Where did you get the impression that Palpatine wasn't trying to overpower Galen in the ~20 seconds he had when the leadership of the Rebellion was getting away, something that Sidious is furious over just minutes later?

even if I consider it one far ahead of Arcann's paygrade(comparing spirit!Valk vs Arcann's barrier and Sheev vs Galen's Tutaminis).

As you say, Galen is doing astronomically better than Arcann, given that only part of the lightning is actually hitting the latter, he wasn't able to advance on it and make Valkorion desperate, and TFU Sidious >>> weakened Valk.

But the key point here is that it's better than what Mace Windu can do against a weaker version of Sidious's lightning, at least in the Legends interpretation of the event where he probably would've lost had Sidious not feigned weakness.

A much better question is why the same source has two different versions of the same sentence.

Each of the Starships and Vehicle Collection magazines are apparently organized into a group of subsections, three of which focus not on the vehicles covered in the issue, but rather on their history and pilots.

If it's there, it's likely to be in one of those.

Who would waste money on such a pointless magazine or time on such a pointless difference? All kinds of good questions here.

Galen only goes into "Oneness" for his final suicide blast (though it likely wasn't Oneness in the TUF sense, or else Palpatine would've died).
