The prevailing theory is that he was always married to her in the main timeline and because she was an awesome spy she managed to keep it a secret and that's why the ending can be the same timeline and his staying in the past and not returning via the machine doesn't mess things up.

That’s not accurate and it wouldn’t make sense anyways, as that would still involve the past changing. Just keeping it a secret wouldn’t stop it from becoming an alternate reality, lol.

I just explained it up too, if you wanna get a decent idea of what actually happened, and why.

Spoiler:

This is what stopped Cap from creating a new branch reality. All the stones were in their rightful places, and the time he was in was one in which all 6 stones existed at once. Meaning he was able to effectively change the past in that small way, since he was already IN the past, and all 6 stones were present at the time.

Everything you and PR are saying is fine, except for this bit (PR has a theory on this bit which would make sense but was never actaully alluded to).

What happened here

Spoiler:
with Cap was a direct contradiction of the laws of time as set out by Bruce, which is the past can not be changed. I assume this was some kind of time paradox and that Cap was always Peggys mysterious husband.

So I no longer want to get

I already explained this to you.

Spoiler:
Bruce stated that you cannot change YOUR past. Ancient one stated that you can change the past ONLY if all 6 infinity stones are present at the same time, in the universe. When Thanos destroyed them, it made the mainstream universe a branch reality, in which the past could not be changed, because it would simply create an alternate reality. The reason Cap was able to change the past by inserting himself in it, was because all of the stones existed in the 70's, when he went back. This meant that he could therefor change the past, without creating a new reality. Therefor, since all the stones were returned, and the timeline was set in concrete at that point, he was able to stay in the past without it diverging into a branch reality.

It's really not that complicated, as I've stated.

It wouldn't involve the past changing because in the main timeline there was always 2 of him. The one married to Peggy in secret and the one who does everything else up to the point when he goes to return the stones and doesn't come back.

Well I have to watch again and listen exactly what the

Ancient One said
. But that sounds like a really silly and plot convenient set of rules. I mean correct if im wrong but you are saying

You can change THE past, (as long as the Infinity Stones are in place, but you cant change YOUR OWN Past.

Sorry but Thats just dumb.

And quit with your patronising - it’s really not that complicated- crap.

Already made more than The Last Jedi 😂

Already half of Avatar's earnings, fingers crossed Avatar gets finally ****ing dethroned

can't wait until this dethrones avatar

The Last Jedi is one of the most disappointing films ever glad it already got smoked.

Avatar getting beat will trigger James Cameron who is known for not being fond of comic films and being a petty bastard.

I liked Avatar but didnt think it was THAT amazing.

Yeah, this was good. 7.5 or so. Kinda slow in the beginning, but the final fights were well put together.

That is pretty much All the Marvel Movies now. Movies are slow and quite boring in parts but the fight scenes are fun.

Loaded with lame humor, too, IMO. I thought Hemsworth is the funniest of the crew. Even more so than Chris Pratt. Paul R. is kinda annoying at times.

Spoiler:
'Thor, this kid is calling me a dick head again.'
Funniest line in the film.
Spoiler:
Then Thor threatening the kid down the mic, hilarious.
