It fell beneath expectations but a drop is expected. When you easily clear 1 billion the sky is not falling. It just slightly underformed. Disney owns the rights and Lucas would not do so. He was pretty blatant in saying he would move past this so this is not going where he would take the films.
The first trilogy had its moments but had very bad acting and has not aged well. It is nostalgic to you but do not get it twisted. The nt has superior acting, better characters, and better directing.
