Yeah definitely 👆

I think it was a contributing factor. I mean, not me personally unless he was on KMC back then, but still. Also, **** y'all, Mace could have survived. Jedi have survived worse.
He tried a couple of films post ROTS, so it obviously wasnt the fans. (Remember social media was hardly even a thing back then).
Which Jedi have survived worse in the films?
Also helps Maul isnt quite human.

He did, but... he was brought back in both EU and Disney canon, so it would be dumb not to acknowledge that.
They restarted his story in animation and later finished his story in animation.
After all that was done was kind of pointless to acknowledge it in a live action movie. And if they had plans for him then they really shouldnt have finished his story in Rebels.
And im pretty sure Filoni asked his higher ups at Lucasfilm if they had any plans for Maul before bringing him into Rebels. And they said no.
So As per usual they are doing shit as they go along, without proper planning.

And there's not much story left to tell...I mean, we know how it ends - he gets killed by Obi-Wan on Tatooine... in the episode named after the non-canon comic which had the same result (Mau's death at the hands of Ben).
Actually the episode was called Twin Suns, and the comic was called Old Wounds.
The comic was actually 10times better. In that at least Maul got a hit in. Plus was cool the way Owen was involved.

The fans were part of it. Message boards like this one were huge back then.
In the films alone? Not many, but Maul, Kenobi's falls in TPM and ROTS, Luke being zapped a bunch of times by Sidious and only needing minutes to get up and carry Vader to the shuttle bay. Not all specifically the same, no, but we don't see Mace hit the ground. I know Lucas said he died back in the day, but that's why retcons exist.
Maul is strong in the dark side, but other than that, I'm not aware of anything that makes him superhuman.

My bad, I stand corrected!
Obi's line "I will mend this old wound" is an obvious reference to the comic, though.

A part of it? Sure. He was atrocious in AOTC. But to be fair, so was Natalie Portman. It was the 2 of them together that puts that film down.
But its not like fans stopped Portman acting. And in her own words it was Hollywood that was looking down on her for the Prequels, making it hard for Even a Fantastic actress such as herself to get auditions. So Hayden really had no chance.
Sure but the only one I recall taking Palpatines full lightning up close (without blocking it like Yoda was), was Vader, who also died.
Anyway thats Filoni and Witwers stance on it. Also reiterated in the comic Sith Hunters, that dark siders cling to life in a way Jedi would not, because they dont have that attachment, and are ready to move on when its their time.
The thematic stuff was all fine. But fact is that fight was hyped up through multiple episodes. To build up to a 2 second fight was anticlimactic to say the least.
Filoni showed his true colours on Rebels. That he plays favourites. Fact is he wouldnt have had Ahsoka vs Vader go down like that. Heck he didnt even allow her to die when she blatantly should have. Her surviving all throughout the OT is all sorts of stupid.
