Sidious was far better than him but you proved my point for me. Despite the massive power advantage Sidious still needed a duel to defeat him. Snoke casually dismissed Reys insane power as if she was powerless. Luke was fearful of her raw strength. Luke is extremely powerful and he sensed her power.Maul is not close to the top of powerful force users.
