Just to clarify what I mean here. Think of Superman as one of the major money makers in the Major Leagues. Valkyrie would be by comparison a low level player in a back water league. She might be known by some but the vast majority aren't going to be able to tell you much about her of anything. So the likelihood they know the Sword of the spear are magic in nature is pretty damn slim.
Similarly if Superman's weakness to krytonite and magic werent so well known it wouldnt come into play.
If this was the Black Knight who while not one of the "stars" of the major league certainly plays in it the likelihood that the average Joe knows his sword is magic is much greater.
Thats how I see it anyway
We can speculate I guess, as Selene is one of the more vague characters out there. She supposedly has vast magical powers at her disposal in addition to her somewhat poorly defined powerset and displays immunity to conventional damage at times. She lacks showings against the high tiers though, so Superman is the only one we can credibly support here.
