Darth Vader - Comic Book Thread

Nothing new as of now.

That was pretty neat.

Vader - Dark Visions (1/2):

Vader - Dark Visions (2/2):

"Failure...Is...Unacceptable."

If Vader didn’t just kill anyone at the first mistake this General would have acted more rationally and would have likely captured that spy

Wholesale slaughtering anyone who messes up is an absolutely terrible style of 'leadership'. That said, the level of sheer, debilitating terror that Vader instilled within most of the Imperial ranks is crazy.

As of now, it's unknown if Disney/Marvel will continue the series beyond that.

No! Disney needs to shit on create Vader comics.

If I don't see an ambiguously-canon Disney Vader comic, my life won't be complete. ❌

Ugh that was a painful read..

Disney has done great things with Vader overall, and given him more [positive] depth then he's ever had before, imo. His first two comic series' are actually quite good, and I would highly recommend them to any SW fan.

I only see Disney doing great things with Vader.

I heard they retconned the reason he died in RotJ - according to Disney, Vader died because the guy who designed his suit sabotaged it. (definitely not a stupidly incoherent reason)

So apparently Vader didn't die from Force Lightning overloading his suit's circuits like the film implies.

Nice.

I look forward to the next issue, where we find out that Vader's suit also runs on soy.

Um, where did you hear that? Because in Disney canon Vader himself improved upon his suit's design.

Someone posted some pics of the comic a while back - looked really stupid.

I remember them saying it was a Disney comic, too.

That's odd, because per the comics Vader personally rebuilt/adjusted/improved his own armor, and actually became enraged at the idea of someone else messing with it:

Figured this may as well go here...

Comic book writer Kieron Gillen(the guy who wrote the first Vader series, created the character Doctor Aphra, and has done great things with his current run on the Star Wars series) recently announced in his newsletter that Star Wars #67 will be his final issue:

As of now, it's unknown if Disney/Marvel will continue the series beyond that.

So it was recently confirmed that Greg Pak will be taking over the current SW series, starting at issue #68...

Greg Pak is taking the reins of Marvel's flagship Star Wars comic. His run kicks off with issue #68, with Phil Noto on both interior and cover art duties. "Dream come true," Pak said. "I'm trying to write the Star Wars movie that I'd want to see."

Looks like Marvel is pulling from Legends yet again...

Target Vader #1 is coming July 2019, and with it, a character from Star Wars comics past. Valence, who first appeared in Marvel's classic Star Wars #16 in 1977 as a cyborg bounty hunter with a vendetta against Darth Vader, is the story's central figure. "This is a deeper dive into the criminal underworld, and it's all about Valence and a crew of bounty hunters coming together to pull an impossible job, really: hunting down the Dark Lord of the Sith." His look has been updated, but with nods to his original outfit. And Groneman promises that Valence, a skilled fighter, will be more than a match for Vader.
mmm

**It was also announced that a new Tales From Vader's Castle series was greenlit, and will launch October 2019.

The title of this comic is "Chewbacca and C3PO end up in the wrong neighborhood and get raped"

That's literally what it looks like. 😆

C3PO: "I say, Chewbacca, it looks like we went down the wrong alley!"

Chewbacca: "Rrrrrrwww!"

C3PO: "Oh no! It looks like they're going to rape us!"

Chewbacca: "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrwww!!!"

😆 😆 😆

mmm

Wait now I'm a bit lost, so is that issue gonna be specific to Legends too?? Or are they just pulling him into Canon?

I think they're pulling him into canon, but I'm not 100%.

Also they spelled his last name wrong, it's Valance not Valence.

Looks like a legit interesting comic in all seriousness, though.

But a team of bounty hunters trying to kill Darth Vader sounds insane.

Might be worth a look. 🙂
