Then you have his terrible track record against piercing damage, so any big fly could probably irritate his skin, at the very least.

And of course you could easily argue those were supernatural flies, not of Earthtly origin.

There are rl flies that bite through horse hide, so no reason for superflies not to be able to take Thor apart in seconds.

It's a fake hammer as Thor doesn't want anyone to know mjolnir is stolen
