The man is just giving his [biased] opinion on the matter, which obviously holds no validity whatsoever.
At the end of the day, what transpires in the actual comic books reigns supreme -- that is the *only* true canon. In this medium, published material cannot be overridden by random interviews or Twitter posts. The latter should only be used as supplementary evidence if/when they align with what was stated or shown on-panel, in the issues themselves.
...That's my two cents, at least.
So my counter to this was...
Constantine (yes, yes, I know) KNOWS he is real. He isn't like Joker, or Harley, or Ambush Bug, or Deadpool, who know that they're in comics - as far as he knows/believes, the world he inhabits in is real.
Nothing in the comic world he inhabits, says that it is fake, or an art medium. So writer interviews saying he is 'real', support the on-panel evidence that he is 'real'.
Look, I know Moore is dafter than a bag of those snake gods he worships, and that the other writers are just trolling/having fun. I'm not deranged, lol. But the interviews don't technically contradict the stories, unless one day DC actually write a story where John realises he is a fictional character.
Bit of a silly argument, but it isn't as if there are interesting threads these days...
