This is a fair point. The fanmade scanlations are usually reliable to an extent, but obviously mistranslations can still occur(see the Flashy Flash examples you posted.) That's why I typically wait for the Viz release, as they...being an official manga publisher...are obviously a far more reputable source when it comes to the english translations. I'm not saying Viz is infallible, but still...That said, the Viz site doesn't even include any of that "FTL" narration in their official release of the intro page:
So take that for what it's worth. /shrug

so it's basically the viz version of the intro page, which says nothing about flashy flash being ftl vs. two different fan made versions of the intro page, which say completely different things about him being ftl? yeah i'll side with the silence of the viz version lol.

There’s a Japanese version of the cover with text that would be missing in the Viz translation

Yeah, this is like comics' cover pages. The words of a cover usually appeared in the original issue, however, they often get left behind in ( a collection of issues)
Whatever the most accurate translation would say, they’re words on a cover that aren’t even reliably included in the actual issue. It would be one thing if the words confirmed the contents of the book, but they don’t, at least in respect of whether FF is ftl.
Sooo… whatever the translation is, it’s hardly proof, right?

I just wanted to point out that the FTL narration wasn't included in the Viz release of that chapter, or in their subsequent release of that specific volume of the series(in TPB format.) Seems like it only pops-up in the fanmade scanlations(which have wildly different translations.)
Either way, cover art/text is certainly isn't proof... Of anything, imo.

viz leaving that text out is telling. it's not like they have an agenda against flashy flash and are trying to lowball him.
but yeah covers dont mean shit in any medium. remember this cover that showed vulcan ragdolling gladiator-
but then gladiator actually raped vulcan with ease in the same issue-
covers dont matter. feats do.
Yeah, it generally like this.
For example in the manga: Strange and Brigt nature Deity, the original issue you can find words like "万事屋登场" but in the 単行本 version, the words just not included
Original issue
単行本 version
Notes: I'm using the chinese translation because I can't find any site that can read it without cost, the original free japense version disappeared after a while. Sorry for that
But I think both chinese and english translations follow the same pattern should give my words some credit
So in summary,Yeah, it basically like you are using a comic cover to prove your characters can go FTL

But if your only 'proof' is a fanmade scanlation of cover art(that isn't even supported by an official manga publisher, mind you), then that's... Quite a reach, to say the least.
