It was all in his head. We know this because he flies through a giant Bizarro, Bizarro who was getting larger (in his head).

I thought Superman couldn't control his mental blocks?

Also, I thought that entire fight took place in Superman mind? I thought Superman was in a van with Joker while all of this was happening? Then, magic is affecting him. He's overcoming it over time, but it's most def something that can't be used in a battle since it is taking a toll on him.

Just because breaking a character's will is impossible doesn't mean said character can solve their subconcious issues

People always say Superman mental blocks prevents him from holding back. In the scans you posted, Superman mentions cutting lose. I brought up mental blocks because it all contradicts what's truly happening in comics.
