So random PSA here for those collecting comic scans: you should back them up on a separate thumb drive or hard drive.
While uploading them to an online photo collection service secures an online backup, it should be common knowledge that some of those online photo collection services can collapse, even those with paid subscription models.
But even if they don't collapse and are perfectly functional... be aware that the titles of your scans can be changed from carefully collated titles to random gibberish.
So let's say you've "lost" your original hard drive that contained a carefully collated collection of scans where their individual filenames were painstakingly titled for easy reference? But you've still uploaded them to an online photo collection service like Photobucket! That even offers mass downloads of entire uploaded albums via convenient .zip files! You extract the convenient .zip file! You get a named folder containing every single one of your scans! And...
... they're completely renamed files that bear gibberish titles like "0a0d45cd-cd27-4026-9af2-e5a96d44ff7a" and do not order themselves in the same way you uploaded them.
So only way to re-collate them for posterity is to cross-reference each scan with each title that I can extract from my respect threads. This will take weeks, if not months if I can't find someone to salvage my old hard drive. Ugh.
