new52 started out great. The first few years there was a mountain of great books.
Yeah, but DC being so bad that they need 'something fresh' for like the 74846th time in the last 20 years shows how bad things are - I mean, we're even doing Absolute at the same time as All-In, which is yet another fresh start.
That's what, n52, Rebirth, All-In, and I'm sure I'm missing one, the time when Damage appeared and Gordon was Batman for a time...

TBF, Rebirth more like a "going back to the previous one because the we completely phuck up the supposedly refresh take"
But imo, most "refresh takes" will eventually turn back to the classic versions. Like...how many Byrne's takes about Superman eventually get retconned to classic approaches(Lex is Superman's friend in his boyhood again, Supergirl again is Kara again etc)
I feel it's just how comics work. People just like nostagia, and some of new additions will remain if it gets lucky
Also speaking nostalgia. Anyone remembers Colonel Future who is a pre-crisis antagonist(The last time I checked, he only appeared in Pre-Crisis continuity before Infinite Frontier)?
Superman even mentions that Colonel Future has some run-ins with him because Future always jumps to conclusion(like he did in his pre-crisis appearances)

n52 and Rebirth weren't just team refreshes and you know it, lol. The fact that we have different versions specified in vs forums shows we had completely different characters.
well when n52 first came out they were introduced as brand new different characters
not so sure what you mean by rebirth though. rebirth intention seemed to be merging post cirsis history with n52. and explaining why n52 the way it was because manhattan changed history
now we are back again to the same p52-n52-rebirth=same timeline same character, obviously it was dc admitting their previous reboot was a mistake.
the awkward part is that most dc characters have multiple origins so it's a mess sorting through whether something is canon or not.
