Random question, but I'm curious what you guys think [didn't want to make a whole thread just to ask this question].What is the single best individual comic book you have ever read in DC, Marvel and Indie? TPBs and collected works don't count.
Superman #217 single-handedly got me interested in Superman comics. I'd always been a fan of the character, but it was always from stuff like TV shows and movies more than it was from comics. I had read some, mind you, but saying that it was sporadic at best would be an exaggeration (as it was for most DC stuff, as I had grown up reading Marvel). Obviously I could go back and see the likes of Jurgens and Loeb paving the way, but that one issue is still a favourite of mine.
Uncanny X-Men 281 would probably be my favourite Marvel comic. The art is ridiculous but gorgeous all the same, and there's an overt combination of brutality and sexuality to it that I really like that you just don't get in almost any superhero books anymore.

Bad examples Dark.
Just admit you don't like that he used the Hulk, but that you don't want to seem like you're singling him out. Come on.

That's the 1st appearance of Trevor Fitzroy. I love that issue.

@Galan. 👆In a comic, ANYTHING can happen. Jane Foster can succeed where Odin fails, for example.
In a forum fight, then we use a combo of feats and fights. Can't ignore fights, but neither can we ignore feats. And my personal take on it is that it depends on how much exposure a character gets.
The more exposure, and the more that character begins to interact with the wider community, the more feats begin to matter - more so than fights. Because a new character will start to 'job' to established characters.
As a good example of this, look at Damage. When he first arrived on the scene, one could make a good case that he was high herald/trans. Then as he started to interact with the wider community, Batman, Poison Ivy and Congorilla happened.
Look at Grail. In her first appearance, she was oneshotting Shazam, breaking GLs, outspeeding and outfighting WW. Now? She's casually beaten by WW (who, it should be noted, no longer has the GoW amp she had when Grail won against her).
Look at Immortal Hulk. Flexing Jane Thor and Herc off him. Now? Grimm and Bushwhacker are taking their shots against him.
Zoom was speedblitzing Flashes. Let that sink in. Now? A blind WW tagged him, Liberty Belle, Superman etc are all fighting him.
I can go on, but we get the picture.
Damage was still elite, even after his one off showing, so his fight against Superman and Diana is a good representation of how powerful he is. His averages prove this.
Wonder Woman is just that good. The same issue, she did good against Darkseid as well. Her fts are consistent with what she did against Grail. The same Wonder Woman worked Shaggy; the same Shaggy that was holding his own against the entire JLA. Her beating Grail isnt a low showing for Grail, it just shows how powerful a pissed Diana is. If Superman wouldve worked Grail, would you have said anything bad about it?
Did Grimm fight the same Immortal Hulk that the Avengers fought? I'm sure there's a difference there. Like his MOVEMENTS not being controlled. This is why I say your post was a fail.

ehh carver to be fair, the fight with the Avengers had the same context as the fight with BenHe had been possessed by a sadist (Brian) in that fight against the avengers, and didn't have control of his actions
He wasnt possessed though. He admits he is using the Challenger...

A couple of pages after, he proves it by crushing the Pyramid. The same pyramid that made Challenger lose the game against the Grandmaster. Hulk played him.

I find it interesting that your perspective on how control works in comics is evidently dictated solely by the feats said character preforms. Naturally, if Hulk gets some high-end showings while controlled, then he was obviously not being hindered, and the showing is completely indicative of what he can do under normal circumstances. If Hulk gets some low-end showings while controlled, however, then he was obviously hindered and the showing is unusable.
Weird how that works, eh? mmm

Reread my post please. The same post you quoted, I literally said he wasnt being controlled. He wasnt being controlled.
