They were both great. I have zero issues with either.

Secret Wars II was entertaining
Secret Wars I was boring as hell
COIE was one fo the worst cosmic event, I could barely get through to issue 4-5

Did you read them as a kid or as an adult?

Why the distinction?

Because you tend to see things differently. I don't have the same wide eyes optimism that I had when watching for example Lion King as a child as I do as an adult.

I enjoyed COIE more, as I think it worked better as an "event", but I think Secret Wars had some interesting (though weird) character moments.

The trouble with COIE, is it started the "Everyone in a way too large a cast say something" trend.

WHTTMOT was much better as a Pre Crisis story, because it was a well put together story, and not some event just for the sake of being an event.

Coie wasn't an event for the sake of being an event. That's what Secret Wars 2 was

If Mr. Majestic died from chronal poisoning, how come he was still around for Captain Atom?

You can't say they ignored the events in Maj's story, because they directly referenced it.

If the scale is grand enough, I don't mind that, personally.

People on Comicvine ask strange questions.

"Who's more powerful, Superman or classic Thor?"

This is a "duh". Of COURSE the correct answer is:

Thor.

He can open portals, create world level storms, has so many exotic abilities and such. Superman may be arguably EFFECTIVE within his limited scope, but Thor is far, far more powerful overall.

Depends what you mean by powerful 😈

If you mean 'more powers' , then Martian Manhunter is more powerful than Superman, for example.

Yeah, it's really not definitive enough imo. I prefer terms like effectiveness and versatility, tbh.

Powerful is too subjective

Uh, what? By that definition Iron man is more powerful than Superman and Thor combined.

It's about the versatility and power levels combined.

Iron Man has the versatility, but nowhere near the depth of power. He can't operate on as large of a scale as Thor can.

He can and he does.

Thor is a viking turd and a pansy, his best feat is stalemating Tony's second most primitive suit of armor in strength.

Likewise Thor can't operate at the power level of Superman.

Remember Thor knocked out Superman first in JLA/Avengers. 😛
