This isn’t new. We know Superman purposely holds back and take hits he doesn’t have too. We readers call it pis/cis. But at the same time, it’s nice to have an outright panels saying and depicting what we already know.

Also, Superman gave birth to Super Saiyan God all the way back in Our World At War. If anything Goku like usually just comes out and steal another fighters abilities.
