Indeed.

But her trouble with Joker is like fighting a drunken boxer - too crazy, too unpredictable.

DS was because he was blending too many styles too quickly, which to me is skill.

Cassie relies too much on her body-reading ability she's inherited from her mother.

She had trouble with the Joker, too.

Joker's an exception. He's hijacked Spectre out from Jim Corrigan too, and Martian Manhunter couldn't make him sane for more then a minute without nearly killing himself.

Skill wise, there's this:

Guess that strips away his meta abilities....maybe not his speed

The problem for me is that one could easily be explained by his reflexes/brainpower being enhanced, as opposed to being pure skill.

Did they retcon it? I thought that was just how she was trained by Cain?

Indeed. He trained her in body reading as a primary language since birth.

Shiva having that ability is the retcon.

Problem is he hasn't really ever been shown depowered.

N52 had him before the enhancements, and he was the usual 'greatest soldier' type without being shown against anyone of note. Like all those no name martial artists and killers we see in every street level comic.

Slade is not exactly sane, either --- and his mind has been enhanced in particular.

Batman knows 127 major styles of combat (and arguably even every style there is, if we count sourcebooks such as this one).

He knows how to switch between them, too. Even Punisher does that. And Cassie still reads Bats just fine.

So, imho at least, Slade overwhelming Cassie is a bad example to use, as he's tailor-made to counter her body-reading ability.

That's the problem with Shitstroke.

Take away his prep and toys and you just have an old man unable to keep up with the youngsters he's desperately trying to molest.

That kick in this scan shouldve been impossible to do

You're right here, I expressed myself wrong.

Still, I would say genes matter a lot, too. So I should have said that she has inherited the raw talent from Shiva.

She and Cassie are DC's most popular body language-based martial artists, after all.

There is no evidence that David could train just any kid that way, if I'm not mistaken?

Oh right. Was that a New 52 thing? Or just something I happened to miss?

Yeah, that was part of why I asked. Even depowered, I wanted to know just how good he was, or if there was a skill gap that allowed say, Bruce's skill to even things out.

Dick Grayson is probably the most agile, flexible human being in comics. It would be weird for anyone else, but not for him.

You make a fair point. I just was wondering where it was stated that she inherited. I like reading up on that expository shit.

Slade is meant to use 9 times as much brainpower as normal humans.

So it's no wonder he's too much for Cassie to process.

So he'd be top tier amongst normies. Against named heroes and MAs? Eh.

Yeah, I was reading some older stuff. Dude was a ****ing machine.

Tim dropped Cassie as well during her villainous days. Twice, IIRC.

Tim admitted that he never beat her and the fight was rigged.

Slade has been a beast throughout Priest's run and the DCnU era.

Do you know when/what issue?

Batgirl #59, I think.

Lately, Cassandra has had no issues with the likes of Nightwing (who she took down in one move) and even Batman admitted that she would take him in a one on one fight.

Pretty sure the Batman quote is far from "lately". That happened at the end of her original run.

Anarchy uses all 100%. 🙂

Whatever happened to that Gary Stu character that nobody liked or asked for?
