Maybe. It wasn't mentioned in this issue. Maybe I missed it?
Mentioned this earlier, but when Prime first appeared in this series he was being held under a magical red sun that kept him depowered. Once free, the implication is that he went to earth very soon afterward to fight Shazam. Aside from that, the fight itself also took place at night, so there was no solar energy for him to absorb(which, as we saw during SCW, can certainly hinder Prime if he's not already at full power.)

And on the SCW note: remember that Prime had been unleashed for quite a while without ever reaching full power. I mean, they broke him out of his red sun prison and gave him his solar-collecting suit right away(in the very first issue of the event)... But even by the time he invaded earth with the army(which occurred near the very end of the event), he still wasn't at full power.

So it would be perfectly in-line with Prime's existing history if he wasn't at full power when he fought Shazam/BA.

Yeah it was pretty stupid, tbh. Prime returning has been built up for the last several issues -- then he finally gets back to earth and gets dropped almost immediately. Weirdest part is that it happened under Johns(who historically wanks the absolute f*ck out of Prime.)

The art certainly didn't help either, though. Kolins' artwork is only like one notch above JRJ's, imo.

Was Shazam's run got shrunk due to recent DC layoffs?

Prolly all that recent DC upheaval in house has caused all kinds of scheduling issues. This feels sooo rushed.

Yeah. The art was meh. It wasnt even trying to be stylized.

👆

You could tell that Johns was rushing to wrap the series up as soon as possible. It was really strange.

I've seen the board turning incredibly pro -Marvel in recent years; lots of one sided nitpicking 👆
ikr? It's sickening. 👇

Pretty sure the series got cancelled, so I'm just that accounts for how rushed the issue felt.

Yeah.
Ive heard and read recently that DC trimmed a lot of fat. They are going to be focusing on their main titles and what sells. Shazam im guessing was not one of those making good numbers, and was part of the chopping block(?).

Expect two dozen Batman books and a dozen Superman books in the near future. 😛

Morrison is leaving dc permanently after green lantern

I'm ****in sad

Why does Snyder like Morrison's style so much if all he does is find ways to fellate Batman.

Constant cosmically escalated stakes. Or Batman dick stroking. Choose one and only one.

You still have Bendis

😆

we want hickman

or ewing

Ewing, I can understand.

Hickman, I don't see the appeal, really.

If Hickman learns characterisation, sure.

But both of them are better than Bendis imo 😕

I haven't looked at the sales numbers or anything(that's Prep's job), but I can't imagine that Shazam was a big seller. It was... Pretty bad all around.

Hickman can be really good when he's allowed to do his own thing. His runs on F4, FF, Ultimate Comics, and SHIELD were great.

I'm not a huge fan of Ewing, though.

Ewing is good at writing cosmology

Hickman is trash at writing big cosmic events, secret wars was trash

Secret Wars itself was mediocre, but the build up to it(Avengers/New Avengers) was really good, imo.

Times run out? I thought the design of beyonders were stupid as hell

Design is the least of their problems.

Why the f*ck not bring back the original Beyonder in his classic, most recognizable form...?

Hickman is no Jim Shooter.
