Been waiting to give my opinions to let things marinate a bit, but my initial thoughts are mixed. I didn't like this movie, but I didn't dislike it either... I certainly didn't loathe it as deeply as most of you seem to have.

Spoiler:
Sure, it had its share of inconsistencies and "wtf" moments, but I honestly think one of my biggest issues with this movie is that everything just felt so rushed from the onset. Even the opening crawls were essentially: "Hey everyone, Palpatine is randomly back, FYI..."

That being said, Palpatine is a bonafide force god in this, and Kylo/Rey are right there with him. The feats on display here were asinine.

Tbh, if JJ wouldn't have spent so much time trying to fix Rian's f*ckups, this would have been a lot more enjoyable for me. But again, I didn't hate it, and I fully expected to. So yeah...

My initial thought is that TLJ is still the worst film of this trilogy by a considerable margin.

110% agrred on the tlj part

Did he try though? Honestly going by the movies its just not in character for him to do that against Force users. The whole fight against Snokes guards in TLJ was also Sabers Only.

Seems he can only be bothered with that if his opponent gives no Force resistance at all. He also cant be bothered if his opponent holds a lightsaber (see Kylo vs Finn in TFA).

Yeah, it's quite often for Force Users to job like that against skilled combatants in hand-to-hand.

Logically, they should always do something like Obi Force-pushing Grievous in RotS or Windu crushing him in Genndy's cartoon... but many find that to be anti-climatic, I guess...

...

Even Brie Larson had enough sense to photon blast that dude who trained her instead of going h2h with him 😛

haw-som

It's also somewhat interesting that Snoke gave Kylo the means to

Spoiler:
survive his fall at the end, which is what ultimately made it possible to resurrect Rey.

Its more in character for them to use the odd Force push during a Saber fight. But weve not even seen much of that from Kylo.

I dunno. I mean falls were never really much of an issue for Jedi.

Jeez I dont wanna get into this, but the whole fans are toxic, immature, obsessed and need to get a life Schtick would sound so much more reasonable if it wasnt exclusively coming from the same guys who spent 10+ years shitting on Lucas and his Prequels.

lol true.

Worked on Palpatine. 😉

But this was addressed in the comic, Galan posted scans.

Snoke trained Kylo, so he could stop his fall moment before he hit the ground 😛

👆

That technique is what kept him alive and made it possible to resurrect Rey. Thank you, Snoke. 👆

I just dont get why Snoke had to teach him that when Luke could already do that. As could the prequel Jedi.

Tell that to Windu... 😂

Stopping yourself from hitting the bottom is evidently an advanced technique. 😉

Pfft even half a Darth Maul could do it.

Nah, he got lucky and landed in the liquid.

He only cushioned the impact. Kylo was able to freeze himself in the air.

Ah right is that what he did.

But thats right before hiring the ground, so not sure how thats much different to what Luke and the Prequel Jedi could do. They could also slow themselves down when falling. And they could also levitate. Kylos just seems a combination of both.

Definitely not more impressive than half a Darth Maul surviving. And I dont care what he landed in lol.

Maul would just hit the ground and die in Kylo's place 🙂

You see, all those examples of controlled jumps/lessening the impact of the fall can't compare to freezing oneself in the air, after getting thrown to death.

Kinda like Genndy's Obi deflecting blaster bolts with his hand wasn't the same as Kylo freezing one, but I digress.

I didn't mind this for what it was. A popcorn flick.

Sidious was an absolute BEAST!

It seems Sidious fans are the most pleased with this one.

Calling it the best of the trilogy and a dumb popcorn flick.

Personally I feel it was the worst of the trilogy, and cant turn my brain off to the extent needed to enjoy this. Even the action wasnt that great. Saber fight between Rey and Kylo was decent I guess.

Apart from that the Rey shooting lightning was a cool scene (but as usual she is overpowered AF for no reason whatsoever).
