is that what i said? not all of us are permatriggered over some kids' movies and need to internet-fight over it.

Been waiting to give my opinions to let things marinate a bit, but my initial thoughts are mixed. I didn't like this movie, but I didn't dislike it either... I certainly didn't loathe it as deeply as most of you seem to have.

Spoiler:
Sure, it had its share of inconsistencies and "wtf" moments, but I honestly think one of my biggest issues with this movie is that everything just felt so rushed from the onset. Even the opening crawls were essentially: "Hey everyone, Palpatine is randomly back, FYI..."

That being said, Palpatine is a bonafide force god in this, and Kylo/Rey are right there with him. The feats on display here were asinine.

Tbh, if JJ wouldn't have spent so much time trying to fix Rian's f*ckups, this would have been a lot more enjoyable for me. But again, I didn't hate it, and I fully expected to. So yeah...

My initial thought is that TLJ is still the worst film of this trilogy by a considerable margin.

I do. Children's movies are the only things I have any real expertise in and so I focus all passion and energy on to Star Wars movies. It helps me feel like a worthwhile member of society when people agree with my opinions about movies.

Tell me I'm right. I'll suck your dick if you'll just agree with me.

I think their mistake was placing too much stock in GL's opinion that there needed to be a sequel trilogy in the first place.

mhmm

I have a love/hate relationship with TLJ.

The first time I saw it, I loved it. Then I watched it again and realized it was a bad follow up to TFA, and not a good lead into Episode 9 since the movie really left you with no hook at the end.

As a standalone SW movie, it's quite good, but it didn't work at all as the middle act.

If Snoke wasn't killed off...Episode 9 is a totally different movie. There is no convincing me other wise that bringing Palpatine back was always part of the plan....there was no plan.

That much is quite evident, yes.

Jeez I dont wanna get into this, but the whole fans are toxic, immature, obsessed and need to get a life Schtick would sound so much more reasonable if it wasnt exclusively coming from the same guys who spent 10+ years shitting on Lucas and his Prequels.

You know back then I still never understood why they kept *** on Lucas and the PT.

Yeah sure, ok some of the dialogue and romance scenes weren't everyone's cup of tea. In fact honestly, these always seem the two most prominent things brought up and it's really just regarding AoTC.

TPM it's just...what? Some one-off line with the Midichlorians, which honestly I don't think people actually really understand it. But that's another discussion entirely. Also Jar Jar.

But you know what the PT did have?....A story that went from Point A to Point B to Point C. It introduced some great locations and great characters that everyone likes and it also gave way to the Clone Wars MMP and some great comics, games and TV shows.

I feel like, there's a lot more pros going for the PT than the cons on the whole, but people really just focus on the negatives and arguably subjective things. Like some people didn't like the podracing? I thought that sequence was pretty fun honestly. TPM has one of the best duels within the entire saga.

Also it's funny how people say the fights are too flashy or showy. Oh but apparently near 400k people loved the Fencing World Championship lightsaber fight, performed by two master fencers which was basically how the PT had them, a bit obviously to maybe a light lesser degree in speed, but still.

But ah, feel like I'm going off on a tangent here.

What? Dark Empire Palpatine was still more powerful - he could create the same Force Storms - and use them to teleport as well.

DE Palpatine could also actually fight with a lightsaber.

Spoiler:
I was expecting there to be a lightsaber duel between him and Rey and I was very disappointed.

Palpatine was just a very powerful cripple in this movie - but Dark Empire Palpatine is by far superior.

I... Never mentioned DE? ermm

Galan, tell me how you much you've enjoyed Knights of Ren 😉

I want to hear it. Do me that pleasure.

Also on a note, I really gotta say all those ISDs with those superlasers are extremely dumb. Like ok, sure I'll buy maybe 1, maybe 2 at max 3 of them. A handful at best.

But an entire fleet? This movie made something worse than the World Desvastators(though honestly I liked the WDs) and the Galaxy Gun, only in a quantity form.

Also shields can't be activated or something within the atmosphere?......Was that something unique to the planet or just in general? If general....that's stupid on so many levels. But then...it's also dumb that atmosphere affects Turbolaser shots sooo...maybe I shouldn't be surprised at that.

I think if they started off by saying, 'no trilogies, just stand-alone movies from now on' people would have been furious though, crying blasphemy and the like.

holy crap i honestly haven't thought about how this applies to the movie vs forum. what will quan do?

my biggest gripe with the film concerned all the new...phenomena. someone does some shit and i'm like "wait...why didn't _____ do this in episode __" if this were possible?

Spoiler:
complete lack of any sort of character building... Or any real descriptions about them in the film at all. But they're hardly the only ones who suffered from that in this movie, so whatevs. /shrug

Were you not impressed by them

Spoiler:
stomping a saberless Kylo, though..? The same Kylo who was capable of using the force to pull ships out of the sky and stop the saber strikes from Rey "She-God" Skywalker, got his ass kicked until Rey gave him a melee weapon... I thought that was interesting, at least. 🙂

Visual Dictionary just mentions that the ships were at their most vulnerable during their initial launch phase because all flight control systems had to be surrendered to a coordinating central intelligence, in order to guide their ascent through the extremely harsh atmosphere on Exegol.

Bigger question is why they didn't just build the fleet on a different planet with a friendlier atmosphere, lol...

quan is going to eat a bullet when he finds out that Snoke amounted to little more than Palpatine's pet hamster, and that Palpatine could -literally- obliterate him with a single attack if he wanted to, lol.

Yeah, the power-creep on display here was staggering. Seems like Rey(especially)

Spoiler:
could do absolutely ANYTHING she wanted to...and no explanation need be given. She's just THAT powaful. #FemForce

Did he try though? Honestly going by the movies its just not in character for him to do that against Force users. The whole fight against Snokes guards in TLJ was also Sabers Only.

Seems he can only be bothered with that if his opponent gives no Force resistance at all. He also cant be bothered if his opponent holds a lightsaber (see Kylo vs Finn in TFA).
