Since the (american) left is totally fascinated with identity issues at the moment there is a lack of historical awareness of left-leaning practices that included homophobic and intolerant behavior in the past. Those kind of beliefs and the groups that hold them didn't suddenly turn into alt-right despite what some progressists might say.

I do not consider the term progressist to be derogatory. Unlike what I've come to know about Incels the term takes under a very wide spectrum of beliefs and practices. For starters the current french president (for which I voted) is what I'd call a progressist, I disagree and agree with some of his policies but I find him to be a competent/consistent politician.

Seems like guys who've never been socialised. Get them jobs working with the public like in retail. They'll learn how to interact with women in a setting where they're not simply trying to get someone to ****. Once they know how to talk to women in a normal way then they'll find it easier to not come across as a creep.

I just watched this video, I truly didn't know what an incel was until that video, but it's def, not something to be laughed at. Its a sad state of affairs. Those people need professional help, many of them kill themselves.
"Incel community" is obviously terrible and people that consider themselves a part of "community" centered around failing in some aspect of life are always shitty by definition. If you believe your defining trait is some kind of failure, you really have some problems with you.
Healthy people form communities around some kinds of their positive aspects or hobbies or views. Healthy communities center around hobbies like writing, drawing, music, sports, whatever. You know it's a sick community if it's centered around failure.
Now, individual people that just are incels, and don't really feel associated with any kind of community like that, are another story. Obviously they differ from one another. But those that feel a part of such a shitty community are obviously flawed in one way or another.

If he hypothetically did not subcribe wholly to the incel ideal, I would consider it a huge injustice to lable him as an incel, as if the condition of being completely undesirable to women was some sort of crime.
