Very few ppl here (if any) were happy to see Hogg recieving death threats and doxxing. But this is apples to oranges. Hogg chose to become a public figure when he became an outspoken spokesperson for the anti-gun movement. While I reiterate that death threats and doxxing is still wrong, these were the risks involved when he chose this confrontational public life for himself. And in the end, we all should live with the choices we knowingly make.
MAGA hat kid didn’t move and just smiled, he didn’t choose this. The media decided to uppend his life because he was wearing the wrong hat and the wrong smile and it fit the outrage narrative they wanted to tell. Should death threats and doxxing be just some of the risks a person should be expected to face when they wear a hat and a smile? You tell me.
At the end of the day, the media for the most part praised the Parkland students and even acted like just via being in proximity to this tragedy made them experts on guns.
For the Covington kids most of the media made them into villains. Then, as can be seen in this very topic, the little weasels saw they were wrong and tried to dig up other stuff about them in which to target them. They showed clips of random kids talking nasty to some girls and figured "meh, must be a covington kid".
They straight up lied and said the school wouldn't let valedictorians in the past give a speech over being gay, not only was this not the same school being gay wasn't the reason the speech wasn't allowed. They hunted down pictures from several years ago to show students at a blackout game.
If we're gonna talking about idiots, it's idiocy to compare the two groups, the media for the most part treated Parkland students like royalty.
And the worst we had from someone well known that I remember was Laura Ingraham make fun of David Hogg over not getting into college. Compare that with...celebrities making jokes about putting the Covington kids into woodchippers. It wasn't just random internet trolls threatening these kids. The number of shitheads with blue checks on twitter doing it was astounding.
