This is generally good news. However, it may lead us down a path I don't like.

I understand he got death threats, violence, and was ostracized due to the blatant lies. It doesn't qualify as protected speech. However, if people continue to become rabid morons just because they disagree with someone's beliefs, then everything becomes unprotected speech and no one has free speech.

That's not a world I want.

Covington Catholic High teen can go forward with $275M NBC suit

Catholics are too busy raping children. Paedos

Not all of them. They delegate.

Speaking from experience?

The discovery process will certainly be interesting here.

I would just settle with the teen for a much smaller sum if I was them.

Nope.

Criticism is well earned. It is also unfair to pretend they aren't trying to clean up their act.

And why is it always about the Catholics? Because Rabbi's and Imam's never rape children, and then cover it up?

Except they have.

They simply aren't constantly under the microscope the same way Catholics are here in the west, and especially here in the US, where both Democrats hate for not being "vulnerable" enough, and Republicans hate them for not being "Christian" enough.

Doubt he's Catholic.

And his comment doesn't even make sense, since these are kids being attacked, and he attacks the kids for being Catholic by making a joke about kids being abused!

What?

Also... why do more people not draw attention to the fact that even if the media were reporting on this honestly and truthfully that their entire emphasis is completely misplaced.

Imagine hyper focusing on a kid smirking in the same situation where there are extremists just openly yelling out legitimately hateful things (ie. the Black Hebrew Israelites).

Not to mention a group of adults confronting the teens, complete with an adult beating a drum inches from one of the teen's face.

CNN just settled the $800 million suit against them

Huge loss for CNN

Now they are going after the rest of the fake news

I bet they settled for the $100-300 million range. That’s huge. CNN settling this means they were going to have to pay a lot more if they lost in court and it be public.

I'm seeing coping from some, giving reasons like "CNN wanted to avoid lawyer fees!".

But nah. They wanted to avoid the discovery process.

I could be wrong they could have settled for much more than what I am thinking. Either way this kid is rich now and they arnt done.

I feel like even if they tossed him 100 grand it's a win. Them saying they'd fight it and then not fighting it speaks a lot.

If he is so confident he would win, then why did he settle the case for less than he was seeking when he could have potentially won even more?

It is a simple calculation for a company. Paying a firm a six-figure retainer, and hiring a team of thousand dollar and hour lawyers for weeks or months to fight a nuisance suit is a waste of money.
