So has he been charged yet? Somebody mentioned mental illness as an excuse, but I'm not sure I'd buy that, at least not in the "I have no control over what I'm doing" way, seems like this was brought about in a clear, clinical fashion. It's also correct to suggest that other real victims of hate attacks will be discouraged from talking to the authorities, thinking that unless they can 100% prove the attack they will be under the most intense scrutiny, particularly if Smollett does real time.

No one has been charged afaik (though I'm not closely following this story) and the two brothers who everyone seems to believe were involved were let go without charges. Something doesn't add up right now.

Now the brothers' testimony before the grand jury has been delayed due to evidence submitted to investigators from Smollett's attorney, and the prosecutor has recused herself from the case. Strange developments, indeed.
