Bernie Sanders announces 2020 Presidential campaign

It is stupid as age shouldn't matter as you said if a potential president still has their cognitive abilities, but it does matter to some degree when it comes to voters, this is just a fact. "He's too old" will be a talking point against Sanders.

As does nonsense points like physical appearance; even more so for a female candidate. eg remember how "she's ugly!" was used to attack Clinton over and over and "you want to look at that hideous face for 4-8 years!?". Remember how Republicans pushed heavily on Paul Ryans "sexy abs!" as a talking point when he was Romney's VP? Physical appearance and sexual attraction is a thing in elections.

Oh, I remember, and it'll happen again and again, because too many of our fellow Americans are shallow morons. I remember the idiots lining up in support of Sarah Palin because she was hot, and I'll bet a good chunk of Gabbard's support will be down to the fact that she's also very beautiful. It's still pretty goddamned stupid, though.

I remember when they used to say that about Hillary.

The "too old, too white, too male" argument is absolute bullshit. You should vote for a candidate based on their ideas and positions on the issues, not the inevitable circumstances of birth and time.

She made a very stupid argument against Sanders, there, especially since he does represent a minority as a Jewish man.

Would she also say someone is too black, too brown, or too yellow to vote for? No, and she'd be ostracized for even mentioning it, as she should be here for saying someone is too white and too old.

Should we just take turns voting for the most racially diverse candidates running, regardless of their positions and track records, just to ensure every group is represented in office? Of course not.

Can any of the other Democratic candidates boast fighting against racial, sex/gender, and economic inequality as much as Sanders can? As far as I see, most are just watered down versions of Sanders who adopted his policies when they gained popularity and it became politically convenient to do so.

I think a Sanders/Warren or a Sanders/Gabbard ticket is the way to go into 2020.

It is obviously satire. She is leveling the same criticisms against Sanders as were leveled against Clinton. That people find them outrageous and unfair when directed at a man, but not when they were directed at a woman is the entire point.

Drop Warren. She shouldn't be anywhere near the presidential ticket. Add Donna Braizile. Well, actually, make Donna Brazile the front runner and Bernie the running mate. 🙂

I'm skeptical of Warren as well. She talks a good game, but I have my doubts she'll fully back up some of the things she's running on, like Medicare for All. Of those running and that I'm familiar with, she and Gabbard seem like the strongest running mates for Sanders.

I'm not too familiar with Donna Brazile or her political positions. Just checked her Wiki entry though, and this quote made me laugh:

"these sad ass whipper leakers try to slow my groove".

Yeah, there should be a min age to run for pres and max age, when you are a decade past social security retirement, you are too old to run for us presidency.

The biology and physiology of aging is a mf-er.

I didn't pick up on it. Seemed like a genuine criticism she had, but if satire was the intent, she could have pulled that off a lot better.

I think she's got the moxie needed to bring down Trump when they go head to head. Trump would crumble before her.

She has some other no-punches-pulled quotes, too.

Unsure about that. There are a few dudes I've met at the gym that are stronger and in better shape at 75 than almost any body at any gym.

Seems like it, but what does she support that would earn your vote over Sanders or any else running in 2020?

He won’t win the nom. Obama will never support him overBiden or Harris.

Precisely. People want to act like politicians past a certain age are Alzheimer's victims just moments away from death. Plenty of healthy and fit old people around, and probably many more sharp, intelligent, and wise old people than that.

If they are mentally sound, have no evident critical health concerns, and are in touch with the issues being faced, then there is no reason why any elderly person should not run for any government office.

She's vaguely less socialist than Bernie but is a super strong supporter of LGBT rights.

She's also nebulously a middle of the road democrat which gets us universal healthcare, prison reform, and immigration reform.

Other than those, there's not much to get her on. I haven't see her talk much beyond those issues.

Edit - Donna Brazile also said this about the Democrats wanting her (Donna) to be quiet about the rigged primary against Bernie (DNC controversy):

"For those telling me to shutup, they told Hillary that a couple of months ago , you know what I tell them? Go to hell."

haermm

Still think it's going to be Biden with one of the women candidates as VP, at this point.

We'll see though, still got time.

Though on a personal level I'd love a woman President to beat Trump. Trump and Trumper egos would be crushed beyond repair.

Not really, I would vote for AOC even Gillibrand

LOl, no.

You cant tell me who I would or would not vote for. Another one of your "i know better then you" ideas?

Yes, I can here. Because of your many previous stances, positions and comments. You're going to vote for Trump again in 2020. It is known and it's okay.

Robbie is now crying on the inside.
