2020 Presidential Election Discussion

^LOL. I sure hope that's a joke.

Ya know while I don't really care who's President, so long as I can work and have a roof over my head I'm good. I kinda think there should be a cut off age for who can run for President.

I mean Biden is 77 yrs old right? That's....kind of concerning honestly, mainly because appearances mean quite a lot, cause he's gonna be on TV, gonna go around the world. Not saying the President has to be like a body builder or anything, but at 77, late 70s not even early. A person is gonna have problems both mentally and physically.

Not even taking into account the stress of the job, which I'm sure being a President is gonna be stressful....that's not good for one's health. I mean looking at some former President's when they left office, they didn't look nearly as well as they did when they entered into it.

What about Louis Farrakhan? Great man, I've been told.

😆 ok, you were obviously just joking then... that's good.

I'd like to see Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity moderate it.... or perhaps even Alex Jones (just because I know the meltdown from the left would be so satisfying to watch lol).

We need some real talent with their finger on the pulse so Chris Rock or Dave Chapelle, moderate that debate!

Bunch of new polls today showing Trump losing, including Rasmussen where he was down by 4 points.

That's what I'm reading:

The new national telephone and online survey finds Biden with 49% support among Likely U.S. Voters to Trump’s 45%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, while another three percent (3%) remain undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

A week ago, they were nearly tied. 3% difference is pretty big fluctuation for just one week with nothing really big happening (except the conventions).

Is it the Rittenhouse thing? That was the only big thing that happened.

Heard a great quote:

"When you say your government is corrupt in a representative democracy, you are saying that we the people are corrupt."

Also, another quote:

"Socialists are always very generous with money. Just not their own." Too f*cking true.

I don't really agree with either of these statements. I don't think it is fair to blame the electorate for the political outcomes in immensely flawed democratic systems like in the US or Europe. There's just too many influences that are more important imo. The electorate shares a small part of the blame, but I would blame the media much more, I'd blame lying politicians much more, I'd blame the way the economic system is set up much more. I would say even in a direct democracy there's still a lot of mitigating factors, but in a representative democracy like the US, the real culpability of the voters is, imo, negligible.

Similarly with the socialism quote, which is of course very popular, I think it doesn't really apply when we look at the POV socialists come from. It's sort of true if we accept the system logic of the status quo, but if we accept what socialists think it is very different. Take Elon Musk for example, in the current system he can say "all this money is my money" , but what a socialist would say is that the rules of the economic system are unjust and therefore can and should be rejected and from that logic the money Elon Musk has is not his, but it is money that has been falsely gained and should instead be distributed first to the workers that have labored to create the wealth and secondly to society that deserves a significant piece of the wealth due to the conditions that the whole of the community created that enabled the wealth creation.

They could have had a black man moderate the debates, but yeah sure, get some old white guy to do it.

Typical Amerikkka.

How the **** do you know they picked him because they didn't like a more qualified black person? JFC.

I am concerned about Biden's health. If he collapses on a 9/11 memorial, he's finished.... 😬

What an oddly specific thing to say, why specifically would he be done if he collapsed onto a 9/11 memorial and not...a WW2 memorial, or something? Why is he on a memorial to begin with? Or is he standing next to one and he faints onto one?

Such an episode would call his health into question, but I doubt people would try to imply he was disrespectful or something because he had a health crisis near a memorial. That would be retar-oh I forgot this is the same country people lost their minds over Trump having a second scoop of ice cream.

You misunderstood. I was referring to 9/11/2016 when Hill Clinton did a speech on a 9/11 anniversary and fell down. Media uproar ensued and she dipped really far into the polls afterwards. If Biden did a thing like that, his chances of losing becomes plausible.

Lol. You underestimate how much the media hates Trump now. Oh they hated him prior to his 2016 victory sure...but just like a pokemon that hate evolved to a new level once he won.

In the end, it wasn't any horrible policy they thought he might enact that bugged them nor was it that he is just a vulgar person...the slight was more personal: he had proven them wrong. They had all assured us Trump had no chance.

Joe Biden could take a literal dump on an actual 9/11 memorial and the only outlet in the msm that would care would be fox news.

You're ignoring the power of the internet. People mostly voice their opinion or listen to people's opinion's online. It's much more reliable than T.V. as was T.V. to radio.

Biden is leading; he keeps his composure, he's a dead cert. If not, the election will be very close.

It's Biden's to lose and we'll observe that in the debates.

That's a great argument for why social media is the new public square and shouldn't be allowed to censor speech that isn't illegal, but either way at this point the only way the media would turn on Biden is if he said he is voting for Trump. Or if he revealed he literally *is* Trump and has just been donning a mask this entire time. Corn pop killed the real Joe long ago.

I agree with that post mostly. Stupid ****ing boomers are trying to control the internet with no real understanding. However, given Biden's record, I think he's sensible enough to know what's happening and the people around him will help him along the way.

Could just be noise. Or people are starting to decide Biden is the lesser evil. From what I’ve heard more people this year have already decided on their candidate than in 2016. Also third party candidates are taking less votes away from the main candidates.

Now I told people it was silly to try to prop up Biden's DNC speech as proof of cognitive ability. I told them any mess ups after that would be fair game then to show impairment. Did they listen? Nope.

'This is really bad': Social media users voice concern after Joe Biden appears incoherent in Pittsburgh speech

[b]"In the video, the 77-year-old Biden says, "COVID has taken this year — just since the outbreak — has taken 100 year. Look, here's...the lives...it's just...I mean, think about it. More lives this year than any other year for the past 100 years."
