Venom: Let there be Carnage

Y’all need to quit whining until youve seen the film.

My nephews are proper looking forward this, so I can see why they wouldnt want an R rating. Especially in post Covid times (pfft I say that as if Covid has almost gone now).

Meh.

I’ll see it but I’m in no hurry.

The reviews are ho hum and the Wikipedia synopsis leaves a lot to be desired.

CGI in the original was far from perfect, too...

But yeah, I do hope they at least tried to fix that a little.

Why Sony keeps lying about the r-rating and changes their decision in the last moment?

After Deadpool 1, Deadpool 2 and Logan from FOX it just makes no sense.

Did they ever say it would be R? If so I missed that.

The R rating was claimed at one point.

Well even if that's the case I never expected it, because the first was PG-13 and successful, so there was no reason for the studio to change to R. If PG-13 hadn't done well then they might have rebooted with an R-rated take later on. Think Hellboy.

Think Hellboy? That’s a terrible example, the R rated movie was awful I don’t know anyone who liked that. Oh wait…

That Hellboy movie didn't need to be R-rated in the first place, Most of the comics that i've read didn't exactly scream R-rated.

Sounds like fake news. I'm watching this tonight though, will see.

Well...its not

a scene that is "sort of an LGBTQIA kind of festival" as the moment Venom has his "being out" moment.

Watched some leaked fights on youtube the last battle seems much better than in the previous movie.

Would expect it to be. Riot was just in the first one for the sake of an antagonist.

Venom vs Carnage is a much bigger deal.

The Suicide Squad flopped this year as well.

Patient is right, why would they mess with something that already made them a ton of money?

Here Venom is at least giving a fight to Carnage unlike when he fought Riot and he was just being tossed around and getting his asskicked.

Plus them both being dark and fighting at night, visually there wasn't much to see with that one.

How good or bad it was is not the point. The point is that the PG-13 films didn't make much profit, so they tried again with an R-rated reboot.

I thought the r-rated reboot was great tbh.

Venom 2 is a marginal upgrade over the 1st. The first half is slightly worse, probably more because of it not offering anything new, but the second half is better than the original's second half simply because Carnage is a better villain than Riot and the fights were more choreographed rather than close-up mishmashes symbiote goo everywhere. Definitely a lot of the same sorts of flaws of the first one overall, including scenes that looked like they were meant to be rated-R but the camera cuts away last second. I wonder if there is a rated R version that will be released on video later.

Seeing this after work after having seen a few things I hope it sucks less than the scenes I saw

So it's even better than the first?

Sounds like about what I'd expect.

And they never did an unrated version of Venom 1, so I doubt they will for this either.

Yeah, Venom was *supposed* to be R-rated, too.

Turned out to be bullshit.

Exact same story with V2: Carnage here.
