CGI in the original was far from perfect, too...But yeah, I do hope they at least tried to fix that a little.
Why Sony keeps lying about the r-rating and changes their decision in the last moment?
After Deadpool 1, Deadpool 2 and Logan from FOX it just makes no sense.
Did they ever say it would be R? If so I missed that.

Well even if that's the case I never expected it, because the first was PG-13 and successful, so there was no reason for the studio to change to R. If PG-13 hadn't done well then they might have rebooted with an R-rated take later on. Think Hellboy.
Think Hellboy? That’s a terrible example, the R rated movie was awful I don’t know anyone who liked that. Oh wait…

Sounds like fake news. I'm watching this tonight though, will see.
Well...its not
Venom 2 is a marginal upgrade over the 1st. The first half is slightly worse, probably more because of it not offering anything new, but the second half is better than the original's second half simply because Carnage is a better villain than Riot and the fights were more choreographed rather than close-up mishmashes symbiote goo everywhere. Definitely a lot of the same sorts of flaws of the first one overall, including scenes that looked like they were meant to be rated-R but the camera cuts away last second. I wonder if there is a rated R version that will be released on video later.

Sounds like about what I'd expect.
And they never did an unrated version of Venom 1, so I doubt they will for this either.
