People will go after it eventually. Look at Parler. It's supposed to be a free speech alternative to twitter.

Now Apple is trying to pressure it into censoring people just like on twitter and will not let it update it's app in their store until it complies.

Both are jokes. The entire karma system ruins any chance for meaningful dialogue. It causes popular opinions to become highly visible while dissenting opinions are hidden. This turns these places into complete echo chambers.

Since Fly isn't around just now:

You're welcome, gamma fonts. 👆

Twitter is announcing they are now gonna label tweets from politicians that break the rules. But not ban them lol because it's in the "interest of the public."

So one set of rules for the elite and another for regular Americans and twitter now making decisions about what is in the "public interest". Totally just a platform 👆

And?

"Private company can do what it wants", bro. Remember.

Publishers can face certain liabilities platforms can't.

Well it's always easier to just play dumb and pretend all things are equal so that no matter what #gotem never has to end 😱

Welp, nother problem solved. Anything else?

More like platforms have certain immunities from lawsuits, on the basis that they remain neutral.

As soon as a platform decides to take a side in a political debate, they run the risk of losing those privileges (Not a comment on whether they are, in fact, taking sides. That is for the feds to decide.)

Taking a side might be one way to lose privileges, but what about if a platform decides to give the elites rights that normal folk don't have?

It appears certain people don't know the difference between a platform and a publisher.

In this case, they can probably hide behind a court decision that made Trump unblock people, because public interest. That would also stop them from banning him, where anyone else would be banned.

And here we run into the problem. Trump can't block people cuz public interest, but twitter can block people from Trump via banning.

Now we're letting mega corps dictate what is in the public interest. I'm legit laughing at leftists supporting this shit just to own da cons.

The Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978, 44 U.S.C. §§ 2201–2207, [b]is an Act of Congress of the United States governing the official records of Presidents and Vice Presidents created or received after January 20, 1981, and mandating the preservation of all presidential records. Enacted November 4, 1978,[1] the PRA changed the legal ownership of the official records of the President from private to public, and established a new statutory structure under which Presidents must manage their records. The PRA was amended in 2014, including prohibition of sending electronic records through non-official accounts unless an official account is copied on the transmission, or a copy is forwarded to an official account shortly after creation. -snip

Entirely agree. I wish I could leave but there is too much information available and niche subreddits I wouldn't find elsewhere.

Trump is allowed to conduct official business from his twitter account, yes, but not his PotUS account, for sure.

Also, he can delete his tweets all he wants and not be in violation of the PRA, as well. Because they are there forever even if he deletes them.

Do you understand the the PRA had nothing to do with the Twitter-ruling against Trump? They didn't mention it, anywhere. Because blocking people isn't a violation of the PRA. Unrelated.

What ares said is correct: president shouldn't be forced to do anything with his private twitter and the company should not be regulated to force a use policy on Twitter.
