That's literally the exact belief system of the progressive left in the US. No personal accountability at all. Runs directly in opposition to the right who feels the individual is responsible for their actions.
They are actually the fundamental beliefs of the left vs. the right in the US.
The left thinks everyone is a product of their genes and where they were born. Their skin color, their ancestors. Their actions are often out of their control because they are products of their biology and environment.
The right thinks the exact opposite. The individual, regardless of their genes and upbringing, they are responsible for their actions.
Both agree that these positions are not absolute and there are exceptions. And if you view the two poles as a sliding scale, that brings us to something realistic for most people.
I think both positions are correct at the same time. Because science. Obviously, there are exceptions such as mental handicaps and physical deformities. But even those do not impede individuals who have the will power to overcome their circumstances. Success is obtainable. But you genes and upbringing can definitely affect your ability to succeed or fail, for sure.
