Hours before a 20-year-old gunman opened fire on a food court in a suburban mall near Indianapolis on Sunday, he appears to have posted a grim message on the notorious imageboard site 4chan. "Name is jonathan and today seems like a good day to die," he wrote.

The post was accompanied by a colorized image of a wedding in Nazi Germany. He also shared a link to the image-hosting site Imgur, which contained several images of himself wearing a white button-down shirt, blue jeans, a face-covering, and posing with two AR-15 rifles, a handgun, and multiple magazines.

Evidence of the shooter's presence on 4chan first began circulating online Monday, raising questions about his motive. The infamous anonymous imageboard site has been linked to a slew of ideologically motivated killings in recent years.

Nazi Leader Arrested at Boston LGBT Event Protest

A member of a white supremacist group and two other people were arrested Saturday in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston as they marched and chanted during a meeting of LGBTQ community members.

City officials said the group, National Socialist Club or NSC-131, was protesting during an event at the Loring Greenough House. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden confirmed Chris Hood, founder of the group, was one of the people placed under arrest.

The National Socialist Club is a neo-Nazi group with chapters in all six New England States. They say their goal is to create a network of white men, who are willing to fight against the extinction of their race.

Video of the self-proclaimed Neo-Nazis shows the group of white men wearing hats standing behind a banner that said, "Pedo Scum Off Our Streets."

"We are prepared and will not be intimidated in our work to make Boston a city for everyone," Mayor Michelle Wu said. "We remain ready for citywide deployment of extra public safety resources with a zero tolerance approach to any groups looking to intimidate or harass residents in our city."

Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said, "The presence of white supremacists at a Jamaica Plain book reading today, like their downtown Boston march earlier this month, is at once a disgrace and a warning. Society everywhere is targeted by these groups, and society everywhere must reject them."

Nazis Wave Swastikas at Turning Point USA Event

The Florida Holocaust Museum sharply condemned demonstrations at the Tampa Convention Center where a group of Neo Nazis waved flags with swastikas outside Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit, calling it "an indefensible act of hatred."

The group distributed flyers, one of which said, "Every single aspect of abortion is Jewish." The flyers say they were distributed by the Goyim Defense League, which is an extremist terrorist organization that was responsible for at least 74 anti-semitic incidents in 2021.

Video shows a member of the group shouting, "We kicked all your n*****s' asses in Rhodesia. It was a race war in Africa between whites and blacks," at a counter-protestor.

Florida has seen a rise in fascist activity in recent months. In Orlando, the Nazi group Atomwaffen assaulted civilians during a demonstration, and a Neo Nazi group made a bomb threat in Daytona Beach.

Just a reminder, that Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Josh Hawley, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Raphael "Ted" Cruz, and Laren Boebert spoke at this Charlie Kirk event for aspiring fascist teens.

I heard about something called "Florida Man". What does that mean, mmm

😬 I get the idea of freedom of expression but they're basically admitting they hate black people. ❌

A Virginia police officer who prosecutors say lied about his actions before, during, and after the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot—as well as his military service and his marriage—was sentenced Thursday to 87 months in prison.

Thomas Robertson and Jacob Fracker were members of the police department in the small western Virginia town of Rocky Mount when they joined the mob that stormed the Capitol. Both have since been fired.

Robertson, 49, was found guilty by a jury earlier this year of six crimes, including using a large wooden stick to block police outside the Capitol and destroying his phone when he got home. Fracker, who pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge, testified at the trial.

The armed man who attempted to break into the FBI building in Cincinnati has been identified as Ricky Shiffer, the Ohio Department of Safety said Friday.

Shiffer, who was shot and killed after a standoff with police, was at the U.S. Capitol during the January 6th insurrection, but was not charged with any crimes related to January 6th.

The 42-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, had ties to extremist groups, including the Proud Boys.

Shiffer was fatally shot by police after fleeing the FBI building and leading officers on a chase that led to a six-hour standoff on a rural road, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a news release. After negotiations failed, police attempted to utilize "less lethal tactics" to arrest Shiffer, but he "raised a firearm" and officers shot him, they said.

Shiffer died at the scene. Authorities are investigating a possible motive, in addition to Shiffer's ties to extremist groups, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said.

His name is used on several social media platforms by an individual who spoke about being at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and urging a "call to arms" after the FBI executed a search warrant at Donald Trump's Florida estate on Monday.

On his Truth Social account, which has been active only the last few weeks, he communicated to others with increasingly politically violent and revolution-minded thoughts.

But it was not until the FBI executed a search warrant on Trump's Mar-a-Lago home Monday that the user began to fixate on responding with violence toward the agency.

"People, this is it," he wrote on Monday. "I hope a call to arms comes from someone better qualified, but if not, this is your call to arms from me." In that post, he encouraged people to go to gun and pawn shops to "get whatever you need to be ready for combat."

His now-suspended Twitter account, @rickyshiffer, shared the same profile picture as the Truth Social account and similar opinions, including a call for armed conflict in the U.S. this past spring. It included posts saying that "elections are rigged" against conservatives and that the country faces "tyranny."

Shiffer was a registered Republican who voted in the 2020 primary from Columbus, Ohio and in the 2020 general election from Tulsa, Oklahoma according to public records. He enlisted in the Navy in 1998 and served on the USS Columbia submarine from 1999 to 2003, according to military records.

Shiffer was at the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021 according to three people aiding law enforcement who saw him in photos taken from the day of the attack; however, it is unclear whether he went inside the building. Shiffer frequently posted about his attendance at the riot on social media.

Chicago Police Investigating Bigoted Cop Posting on 4chan

Chicago police have launched an investigation into a series of incendiary posts by a person claiming to be an officer in an online forum regarded as one of the darkest corners of the web.

Many of the posts on 4chan's /pol/ board are racist and homophobic. They include photos of Chicago police uniforms, a city-issued ID badge, and a gun—all covered by Post-It notes with the forum's name and a date written on them.

The person making the posts claimed to be a military veteran and a beat cop who worked in the Rogers Park and Chicago Lawn police districts. Among other things, the user bragged about racially profiling people and being involved in two on-duty shootings.

Like other people on the site, the user is only identified by a serial number.

The forum is widely regarded a hotbed of racism, antisemitism, and other extremism. It was used to launch the unfounded QAnon conspiracy theory, which holds that Donald Trump is battling a cabal of Democratic pedophiles.

Jennifer Rottner, a spokeswoman for the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, said the agency received a complaint about the posts on Monday and forwarded it to the police department's Bureau of Internal Affairs.

Maggie Huynh, a police spokeswoman, would only confirm that an investigation has been opened.

Another officer, Robert Bakker, came under investigation in 2020 after his affiliation with the far-right Proud Boys was reported by Vice. Bakker was handed a five-day suspension but did not immediately serve it because the probe was later reopened at the request of the city inspector general's office.

Huynh could not immediately provide an update on the status of that investigation.

The posts on 4chan began on August 3rd when the purported officer started a thread soliciting questions and including a photo of a shirt with a police patch. In the thread, the user spouted slurs for Mexicans and gay men and blamed the city's violent crime solely on black people.

The person also claimed to have voted for Trump three times in the 2020 election because "Chicago has a relaxed voting system." The user appeared to advocate for armed insurrection, noting that American cities "are not worth fighting for."

"I'll leave here and shoulder a rifle in the woods if it ever comes to that," the user wrote.

The user started a new thread on Tuesday asking for more questions, this time including the photo of an obscured police ID and a gay slur in the title. Asked about racial profiling, the person offered a jarring response: "I don't pull over anyone white."

Later in the thread, the user cited an interracial kiss as "the most serious crime" they overlooked while on the job, using the n-word in the response.

Many of the grievances aired by the purported officer are familiar. The user claimed to have pulled back on his police work, decried the department's foot and vehicle pursuit policies, and railed against Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx.

"I hope the department knows I am posting here," the user wrote. "You can tell mayor she is an abomination and the destroyer of a world class town."

Boston Police Slammed Over Response to Hate March

When about 100 white supremacists marched through downtown Boston wielding riot shields on July 2nd, Mayor Michelle Wu admitted that police were caught by surprise. Now, records suggest Boston police officials were not all that curious to learn more, even while the racist march—which included an altercation with a black man—unfolded.

On that day, Boston police apparently did not conduct a single field interrogation of white supremacists.

It did, however, report questioning or observing nearly 50 other people around the city—primarily black men—according to reports of field interrogation and observations from that day that were obtained through a public records request.
