Thor, Ironman and Captain America weren't exactly big name characters before the MCU started and hardly any mainstream audiences knew Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr Strange, Loki, Black Panther etc.

Using lesser known characters isn't the problem. Using shitty writers is the problem. Box ticking and making movies by committee is the problem.

Disagree most of them had had multiple cartoon stories and or TV movies. Thors popularity I pop culture can be seen in the original adventures in babysitting "Thor is gay", and those two Hulk films. The Dr Strange eighties TV movie is not bad t h.

1. I never mentioned Hulk because of the previous movies and the big TV show. He'd be in the same list as Superman, Spiderman and Batman.

2. General audiences don't give a fuçk about that other shite.

Everyone knew Captain America by name and image. Probably didn't know squat about his back story.

Iron Man wasn't well known to the GA though. Aside from the few that remembered the Iron Man animation, or those who caught his guest appearance in the Spider-Man animated series.

Turns out the new Black Panther is Barack Obama. #AlternativeFacts.

No, I meant Thor had been in one hulk film, can't remember who the hero in the other was with him. Perhaps that proves your point t, was it Daedevil?

Yes Thor was in The Incredible Hulk Returns and Daredevil in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk.

The weirder and more obscure the better, apparently.

I want a movie about green Cow-God guy in Strange 2.

Rintrah. Minotaur-like alien.

There won't be a film about him, as he's always been just a supporting cast member of Strange's stories.

Not enough material to work with.

But they may want to make a TV series about Strange Academy in the future.

but yeah his name is Rintrah.

They didn't.

Raimi does like to zoom in on the faces of extras in his film, which is sometimes more than others directors do, but that's his limit.

Fully agree that would have been the best choice now, for the continuity and longevity of the franchise, they should have just recast. It wouldn't be an insult or disrespectful to Boseman's legacy.

Thing is, this is what is making the MCU different from other franchises. Recasting is easy. Having real world consequences and having dead characters stay dead is what gives us such a strong bond with the franchise.

I'm betting the box office will be even bigger the second time around, because the whole world wants to see how they pull this off without Chadwick Boseman.

And Namor...who cares about the second Avatar? This is the The Way Of Water film I want to see!

^ Except the character didnt die. The actor did. The character just had one solo film !

We already had deaths of main characters in Endgame which was absolutely needed to feel the stakes of fighting off the event which the whole franchise had built up to.

@roughrider, DarthThor is correct, BP didn't die, the actor did. Stark, Natasha and Gamora died to cover the "real world consequences" angle.

I know. That's why I said recasting would have been easy, and understandable. The fact that they are taking a more challenging road is fascinating.

Im sure it will be intriguing, but that clearly isnt the reason they went this route. They went this route not to disrespect Boseman, which is kinda silly IMO.

Same reason they didnt recast Princess Leia for Episode 9 (although her history with the character goes much deeper and further back, so more justified). But that screwed up Episode 9 for them, and screwed up the ending for that Iconic character.

Hopefully they kill off the character this time then. Cos Shuri might be the shittiest, most annoying character in the MCU.

Shuri ? Oh that would suck !

Thanks for the info 👆

Was easy to guess, but always good to have some confirmation.
