My problem.with Greta Thunberg.

It's not different though is it? Time goes in one direction last I checked.

Yes whether or not we're doing enough to fight climate change is indeed separate from the overall fact of which country is currently damaging the planet more.

Its China.

Bingo

Which is a shame for the US, as the US could have been a global leader in solar and wind tech, selling it to the rest of the world in the coming decades. This was noted in early 2017.

Not a bingo, but you tried. I'd suggest moving on. It has been established China is doing the most damage, no need to fight it.

Discuss what America can do to improve, since we can't force the worst offender to do anything.

You don't have to force them. They're already doing it. The US isn't.

America already knows what it needs to do. It chooses not to out of short term blinkered thinking.

That's fine, and it is *still* accurate to say China is doing the most damage. We don't need to pretend otherwise to make ourselves feel better, we can still take shots at America just fine without doing so.

Yes. Because implementation of policy and future direction of travel is "dishonest".

Correct. 👆

Based on your standard, Obama is the greatest Carbon Dioxide fighter in existence because of all of his promises in 2008 and then again in 2012.

Results matter, not promises.

You're not nearly naive enough to believe politicans' promises, right? You weren't born yesterday and I don't think you're a Democrat. lol

That's how people can get away with claims like "The US have their far more than any other countries to lower their emissions."

Or not.

I don't get it. The US is #2 on the list. We are terrible. Just no where nearly as terrible as China who you believe is ranked much better.

Here's your lauded China that you feel deserves that subjective score:

Bulding the most Coal power plants around the world:

https://www.npr.org/2019/04/29/716347646/why-is-china-placing-a-global-bet-on-coal

Building the most coal power plants domestically:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-climate-change-china-coal/china-plans-226-gw-of-new-coal-power-projects-environmental-groups-idUSKBN1W40HS

Now...is it possible - hear me out - that China paid good money to manipulate their placement on that subjective score sheet you're touting about as Godlike fact for their image like they do with literally everything else? Is it possible? Even a tiny bit?

When the spending is more about politics than science, yes.

Just the same as the entire Climate Change debate is all about politics and business. Agreed.

That's how you end up with fortunes spend on low energy density renewables instead of nuclear technology. Because governments won't get votes by pushing nuclear thanks to a scientifically illiterate public.

Yes, I really do think we agree on the main points at the end of the day. It doesn't matter that you're eating the shit-sandwich propaganda that China spews out along with their CO2 emissions. 🙂

The answers to all 3 of those are painfully obvious to anyone who isn't a total idiot.

Then I'm a total idiot.

Humor me. What are the answers to all 3 of those questions? I have multiple answers but not all of them can be right.

Strawman all you like as usual, don't care.

But no, percentages-per-person is not "irrelevant", that matters as well, if you actually want to cause real change.

Raw numbers, yes, China is ahead. China pollute the most, yes. Facts.

Per capita, they are far less than the US. Facts. It's possible to be right and believe both facts without having stupid arguments.

Not so fast with praising China so much on their spending for clean and renewable energy.

Global investment in renewable energy reached almost $280 billion last year, with China the biggest spender by far ($126.6 billion), followed by the United States ($40.5 billion). This means that for every $1 the US spent on clean energy, China spent $3.

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/04/for-every-1-the-us-spent-on-clean-energy-in-2017-china-spent-3/

That's from 2017.

Regardless, China's population is 4.25 times that of the United States.

The US is comfortably outspending China, per person. Since energy consumed is a sum of industry and population, with manufacturing and assembly being larger energy consumers than other forms of industry, the US is outspending China, significantly.

Also, the problem with these subjective presentations of facts (because the objective information can be presented subjectively, dishonestly representing reality) is the fact that Nuclear should be considered a green energy and so should Natural Gas and Renewable Natural Gas.

Here's a point: the US will spend $31.7 billion on Nuclear in 2020 with their new budget release. That's almost half of what China's claimed "green and renewable energy" budget is already.

https://www.energy.gov/ne/articles/5-things-know-about-nuclear-energy-fy2020-budget-request

Here's what the real issue is: the US is losing the propaganda war with China. If the US spent as much time finding green and renewable energy investments sources for their "figures", we could claim to be investing probably $150 billion, annually, vastly eclipsing places like China.

In fact, I'm going to compile a report and submit it. Thanks for the idea!

How so genius?

What have you given up personally when it comes to fighting global warming?

Why do you deny 3rd Countries the ability to use coal, when the West continues to use coal to raise the stock of living for their people?

Do you believe you and everyone in the West are better than those in Africa?

Or are you the type that screams at their top of their head, but follows the doctrine of do as I say and not what I do?

So no, the answer aren’t painfully obvious.

Everyone would just be happier if we all started living 15 to a one room house and pissing and shitting in a bucket so the Elitist Left can make the sacrifice of living in mansions with personal jets and limos.

Nah. They just refused to stop taking the rest of the world's "recycling".

That's true, they got tired of pretending to recycle and dumping it in the ocean😛

Most of the world's plastic pollution comes from Asia, China is responsible for about 30% alone. As those countries develop and their population grows I don't see that region producing less Co2 or physical pollution anytime in the near future, they have the majority of the world's population and are still developing.
