Ok.

China's coal use has been dropping since 2010. Their policies for tackling climate change get a yellow "medium" ranking in the Climate Change Performance Index. They are currently leading the world in research into Thorium Reactor technology. Out of the 56 countries ranked they are 33rd

India gets a high "green" ranking. They are ranked 11th. Higher than the European Union and most Scandinavian countries as well.

Meanwhile the US gets a low "red" ranking and are 55 out of 56 countries measured. Tell me again how...."The US have their far more than any other countries to lower their emissions."

Yes. They've been telling "us".

What have that "us" done about it?

Almost nothing.

Hence... ignored.

So you think pouring tens of thousands of programs and trillions of dollars in this is nothing?

What will satisfy you, then? hmm

I don't think that subjective measure of rankings is legit. It's not an objective measure and it's rather dishonest.

Here is an objective measure and ranking, by country:

Isn't China still the #1 polluter?(If not, who is?) And aren't they beginning to open up more coal plants again? I remember seeing something where it was being laughed at cuz they essentially went "we're gonna build more...but build it far away from cities". Which that might help out the cities but it doesn't help out the world.

Yes. Because implementation of policy and future direction of travel is "dishonest".

That's how people can get away with claims like "The US have their far more than any other countries to lower their emissions."

Or not.

When the spending is more about politics than science, yes.

That's how you end up with fortunes spend on low energy density renewables instead of nuclear technology. Because governments won't get votes by pushing nuclear thanks to a scientifically illiterate public.

I just hope Greta's sailboat makes it to China in one piece. Just avoid the dragon's triangle. I'll pray to every god I believe in for her safe return.

Yeah and let's step away from just Co2 for a second and recognize that China is also the largest polluter in regards to physical waste......didn't they scrap their recycling programs as well?

He still refuse to tell me why the West who become a juggernaut in the World though to coal, yet refuses Africa the same chance.

And why any low to middle class individuals should listen to any celebrities about carbon emissions that hops on private jets and yacht after talking down to us.

Or anyone in the West that goes to their fully functioning home with ac/heaters. Or using their iPod/iPhones.

Nah. They just refused to stop taking the rest of the world's "recycling".

I'm sure a speech from a teenage activist could fix that.

Seems America is the worst polluter. China pollutes 12.6% more than the US as a nation, but they have a population of over a billion more than the US.

Irrelevant when it comes to fighting climate change, China is doing more harm than the USA. Period.

🙄

Actually no.

Actually yes the country doing the most harm to the world right now when it comes to climate change is China.

You can acknowledge that and still say the USA needs to try to do better. I'd advise that be the route you take 👆

The answers to all 3 of those are painfully obvious to anyone who isn't a total idiot.

Strawman all you like as usual, don't care.

But no, percentages-per-person is not "irrelevant", that matters as well, if you actually want to cause real change.

Yet the US is famously doing the opposite of trying to do better. Ramping up coal, fracking etc and defunding clean energy research. Whereas China is leading the world in non polluting energy research for its future energy security.

And that's an entirely different(and warranted) discussion. But it absolutely isn't up for debate that China is currently damaging the planet more than any other country.
