That's not correct. Trump brought it up on March 19th, from what I can see.Research into using Hydroxychloroquine, or chloroquine, for COVID-19 started long before Trump thought it was a good idea. Clearly, he got the idea, elsewhere.
For example, this trial was posted March 13th:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04307693?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=3&rank=109
And Trump also mentioned Remdesivir in that same briefing on the 19th where trials for that were posted March 3rd:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04292899?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=3&rank=116
And here is another from Feb 27th which included chloroquine:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04286503?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=3&rank=154
Same as above except Feb 21st:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04280705?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=4&rank=279
Here is another for Remdesivir for February 6th:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04257656?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=4&rank=210
And to finally bring this discussion to a close, the earliest research entry I can find for this is February 7, 2020. This research completed February 25th.
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04261517?cond=SARS-CoV-2&draw=5&rank=321
I don't want to make it seem like there is magic what I'm doing so here is the search criteria I used to find this research:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=SARS-CoV-2&term=&cntry=&state=&city=&dist=
Are we able to move on from Trump just randomly thinking Hydroxychloroquine and Remdesivir are miracle drugs and, instead, give the credit to the researchers. Trump isn't gambling, he's probably being fed this information by his advisers.
