Coronavirus

So my barber has spent 30 yrs working and saving to open his own barber shop. A cpl months ago he found a shop and has been in the process of getting everything ready, and was supposed to have his grand opening today.

He had picked out every little detail and had things shipped from all over the country like custom barber chairs, the flooring, mirrors etc.. This is legit his lifes dream.

I went there today for the opening and to get a trim, but it wasn't open, so i went to where he "used" to work and he was there.

Due to the virus his opening has been delayed, possibly indefinitely. He's been working his regular barber job in the mean time, but the owner told him they're probably closing next week until further notice.

Now doesnt know how long he can pay rent and expenses on his new business without being able to open it and losing his regular job at the same time.

Obviously it doesn't compare to dying from it, and im sure others are going thru the same/worse, but man he looked crushed when he was telling me and knowing how hard he's worked for it and how much it means to him was heartbreaking to see.

That is a shame.

And yeah it doesn't compare to dying, but to be fair most people who suffer due to this virus are going to do so for reasons like your barber and not because they got sick and died. Tons of innocents impacted. Think about the parents who now have to take off work because their kids school are closed and they have nobody to watch them, etc.

What’s stopping him from opening?

Closing schools is the most retarded decision.

@broly

Simply no business. Schools, stores, businesses etc... Are all closing down.

Unless something changes, the shop hes been working at will be closing down next week and they're an established business thats been running for decades. I get my haircut there every other week and sometimes i have 2 wait an hour for Eddie. Today there wasn't a single customer, just him and 2 other barbers, and he was giving one of them a cut.

And apparently some schools are going to still serve students breakfast and lunch, but not at the school but a different location. I have no clue how this is going to work.

Think of it pragmatically and not from a hysterical parent POV.

Kids get much milder symptoms or be asymptomatic than any other demographic.

Keep kids out of school but parents still have to work where do the kids go?

To the grandparents. And old people are more susceptible and more likely to die.

Lol yup when I was a kid whenever I was sick and had to miss school my mom dropped me at my grandmas.

children are in most need of containment because they are the most notorious spreaders of viruses. It's about keeping us all safe from them

What’s the deal with the Dean Koontz book. I know people are trying to downplay the similarities but it’s not going away and the book was written in 1981.

So this is a thing....

Here they are just pausing things until the students can resume school. So they aren't really out any money... Yet.
