I mean she's walking around and talking just fine, my mom drove her, but still.

The hype has definitely made it a very big something, unfortunately....Not that I disagree with some of the concern.
hype is the only thing that gets people's attention in the u.s., and gets them to take something seriously. even with that, we have a lot of sheltered rural/suburban americans pretending that this isn't real. if it's not directly happening to them, it doesn't exist. the only way to mobilize (or in this case, demobilize) stupid people is to put fear in them, imho

Seeing how well the government has handled this just makes me want them to get even more involved in an even more complicated healthcare system. Nothing could go wrong.
👆 Bingo.
This thing has finally hit close to home for me. Three confirmed cases in my own county and nine in my state, total.
Oh, and people in Italy are apparently singing from their houses lol. I kid you not. My local news just reported on it and it's trending on twitter too... or at least it was earlier.
Also, according to the same local news site, two large tribes of monkeys are fighting in the streets over food in India.
Looks like it really is the apocalypse, after all.😂
yeah it's the gubment's fault that were were unprepared. although we did have an infrastructure in place for just this sort of an emergency, which trump removed and fired everyone. but I'm sure that doesn't matter to Cult45

I can't tell you how many people I've come across who are writing this off as nothing, just because the initial reports were quick to dismiss it as "a weaker version of the common flu" or w/e. That is what's stuck in these people's heads.
That may or may not be the case depending on which doc you talk to(now that we're getting more data on the virus), but precautions still need to be taken for sure. It's the people who are trying to ignore this that end up causing a bigger issue for everyone.

And I'm sure many do the same thing, and get away with it.
Worst case scenario, people with very deep pockets just keep clearing the shelf of necessities, until people are forced to come to them and pay their markups. Even if it takes a year, just keep stockpiling the inventory.

everyone who made a fun public hobby out of downplaying this should have their teeth kicked out of their mouths
And everyone who made it a public hobby to cause mass hysteria over this should be prosecuted for crying "fire" in a crowded movie theater because it's still not that big of a deal and there are definitely more dangerous things that should literally get all the attention this COVID-19 got.
But, noted, that you've wished violence on me, yet again. 🙂

Substitute the words "take it seriously" for panic, and you'll see what I mean.

It's familiar behaviour.
Yeah, but, unlike COVID-19 which has an actual death rate (not the hyperbole death rates of innacuate numbers that show 2%) .3%, Ebloa is sitting comfortable at 50%.
Luckily, Ebola is not quite airborne. It's absurdly deadly once you get it.
But about the video: MSM is trash. Garbage. The lot of it.

if the virus goes full-on outbreak...
Too late. We are likely measuring the tail end of it based on ER visits related to respiratory illnesses.
Uncharacteristically higher numbers in Jan and Feb. There are tens of thousands of untested nasal swabs sitting around, waiting to be tested.

The same precautions you should have always been taking such as not going to work sick, washing your hands, etc.
sanjay gupta just said we should have enacted all these emergency steps weeks ago. but this thread proves the while the medical field is a reliable source of reality-based information, we should also consider the feelings of internet prophets who live in sheltered middle-of-nowhere suburbia and don't have to deal with the reality of the situation
