What are peoples opinion on a bailout for the airlines?

I guess we have to do it eventually right? We can't let them all fail. But shit needs to change, no more stock buy backs.

Airlines are begging for a bailout, but they've used 96% of their cash on buybacks over the past 10 years. It highlights an ongoing controversy over how companies have been spending their money.

Since air travel is vital for our economy, we should look into socializing (I know, scary word) the airlines if we're going to keep bailing them out, especially since they're known practitioners of shit-financial-tactics.

This won't happen though, we'll throw billions of tax payer money at them; they'll keep doing what they've been doing.

Stirs up memories of the bank bailout and the GM bailout.

At the very least they need to ban this stock buyback bullshit.

Though yes, like the article says, it's not the airlines fault this pandemic happened. Nothing they have done has been the cause of the severe lack of people flying. However: their greedy practices made this pandemic hit them harder than it should have.

Be that as it may, giving small businesses a loan they need to pay back after giving away so much more to irresponsible big business is kind of a slap in the face to the little guy.
