Looking for Gamers

^You only get 5GB of space to download mods on Skyrim though compared to basically unlimited space on PC. 5 gig is enough for the majority of the best mods out there, but if the plan is to massively overhaul the graphics and/or gameplay, you're going to have to get creative and really carefully think about what you download.

And some of the skyrim "mods" are not merely things like gameplay or graphical enhancements. Some are essentially new games people spend years and years on.

Hell people are still working on "Skywind" which is a Morrowind recreation.

Yeah, most of those mods can be deleted after you have completed them though, Project Aho, Carved Brink, etc. The only problem is when those quest mods add new items that are really useful in the rest of the game, deleting the mod gets rid of the items too.

Definitely get the "Encoubters" dlc, it's essentially an incomplete game without it.

Also a little tip, forget what you know about space sims. Switching the Y access so up is down and down is up just doesn't work with this game.

That's because it plays like an FPS in space. The WSAD keys are used for strafing left and right, forward, backwards, aim with mouse.

I'm using a gamepad, and for some reason they map the left stick as ascending/descending if you press forward and backward, while left and right still strafes. Very confusing, thankfully you can rebind however you like.

If you do get it, let me know what you think. It's a pretty difficult start, by design.

I'm a keyboard and mouse user. I usually invert Y axis but I won't based on your feedback. No time to game until the weekend.

Ah. I didn’t know that.

All I've got to say is,

Thank goodness for Indie games.

Main reason I never got a modern console post 360, everything I like is on GOG or Steam or Epic.

No desire whatsoever to touch the Fallouts or EA/Bethesda junk. Only regret is missing out on Final Fantasy, but eh... Regret fades away when I'm playing Hollow Knight.

Limbo and Inside are spectacular indie games.

10/10.

Depends on the game for me. Sometimes I use a gamepad, other times the mouse and keyboard. If it's a game where precise aiming would be beneficial(like a FPS) I'll use the mouse and keyboard.

Everspace is actually that sort of game.

I just don't have the setup for desktop gaming anymore. No desk. So I've taken to using the gamepad for literally everything.

Even Doom 1 and 2, and Duke Nukem 3D. It's not that bad with aim assist scripts on Doom, and Duke 3D has natural auto-aim.

I’m a hardcore console player/joystick advocate especially while playing fighting games.

Brolly. I was reading about the D2 changes. Apparently they’re like removing half the game because the download is too bloated. Interesting approach.

Continuing my bingeing of From Software games, I just started Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It's really good so far — challenging and engaging combat, a simple and effective stealth / platforming system, and an interesting low-fantasy feudal Japan setting. Since lockdown started I've completed Dark Souls Remastered (NG and NG+), Dark Souls II (just NG), and Bloodborne (NG, NG+, and NG++). I love the dark fantasy stylings, the incorporation of horror, the minimalist plot combined with deep worldbuilding, and, of course, the often challenging and punishing gameplay. After Sekiro, I'll play Dark Souls III — then I'll be up to date for when Elden Ring comes out.

The only From Software game I was ever able to get into was Bloodborne. Loved that game.

This could go here too:

Been hearing rumors about a Harry Potter rpg. Hope it's true.

Hope it's true, but I get the feeling it'll be fake

Those rumors have been around a while. There may be some truth to them.

PS1/PS2 Armored Core was awesome.

Yep, that was them.

Recently new info leaked. Seems too good to be true.

"For starters, the post claims the game won't even have Harry Potter in the title, and will instead be called Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy. As the name suggests, you'll be playing as a Hogwarts student "all the way until graduation." You get to pick the gender of your character, customise them, as well as choose whether they're pure blood, muggle or half blood.

Interestingly, the game will deal with mature themes, which the leaker says could push it towards an M rating, or T at the lowest. Romance subplots are seemingly part of the reason, as you'll be able to marry love interests.

Chronologically, the game takes place after the events of the book, so you won't be facing Voldemort, rather a former Death Eater leading a cast of smaller villains. The setting will allow for some cameos, however, according to the leaker. The world has a hub-based structure, and each major area is said to contain its own NPCs, quests and the like. Hogwarts, Hogsmead, and The Ministry are three of the four included.

As with any RPG, Dark Legacy will also have a skill tree that you will climb through over the course of the game. It is said to have five branches, with some skills locked behind Good points and others Evil, but the leaker notes that you won't be able to learn any forbidden spells.

Combat is described as fluid, seemingly reliant on tactics and proper management of energy. You'll be pitted against creatures from the Harry Potter universe, as well as other rival wizards. Rivals are a big component, according to the post, and they're generated by a Shadow of Mordor-style Nemesis system. Each playthrough players will have one unique rival, who can be "beaten, killed or made an ally based on decisions you make in the game."

Release date is supposedly June 2021.

Would be awesome if true. I like the idea of rivals being a big component. I'm also glad it's not a prequel or anything and would take place after Voldemorts defeat.

As long as it isn't "cancelled".
