Looking for Gamers

For now I hope it's actually real. Can't cancel it if it's fake.

Recently new info leaked. Seems too good to be true.

"For starters, the post claims the game won't even have Harry Potter in the title, and will instead be called Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy. As the name suggests, you'll be playing as a Hogwarts student "all the way until graduation." You get to pick the gender of your character, customise them, as well as choose whether they're pure blood, muggle or half blood.

Interestingly, the game will deal with mature themes, which the leaker says could push it towards an M rating, or T at the lowest. Romance subplots are seemingly part of the reason, as you'll be able to marry love interests.

Chronologically, the game takes place after the events of the book, so you won't be facing Voldemort, rather a former Death Eater leading a cast of smaller villains. The setting will allow for some cameos, however, according to the leaker. The world has a hub-based structure, and each major area is said to contain its own NPCs, quests and the like. Hogwarts, Hogsmead, and The Ministry are three of the four included.

As with any RPG, Dark Legacy will also have a skill tree that you will climb through over the course of the game. It is said to have five branches, with some skills locked behind Good points and others Evil, but the leaker notes that you won't be able to learn any forbidden spells.

Combat is described as fluid, seemingly reliant on tactics and proper management of energy. You'll be pitted against creatures from the Harry Potter universe, as well as other rival wizards. Rivals are a big component, according to the post, and they're generated by a Shadow of Mordor-style Nemesis system. Each playthrough players will have one unique rival, who can be "beaten, killed or made an ally based on decisions you make in the game."

Release date is supposedly June 2021.

Doesn’t sound far fetched to me. Harry Potter is a huge relatively untapped property in the video game world. And the idea of not playing as Harry is pretty unsurprising. Most games that deal in big properties from other mediums don’t have you playing as the main character from te movies. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings come to mind.

Is there any word on which studio may be developing it?

Went back to playing Bloodborne.

Bloodborne is my favourite. I love the Dark Souls games too, but Bloodborne's atmosphere, setting and combat is just perfect.

😍

The atmosphere in Bloodborne is a rich blend of macabre Lovecraftian horror set in an alternate Victorian era. The amount of detail the developers put into the game is utterly staggering, and at times it can be grotesquely beautiful.

I'll check it out. I really love RPGs where I can fight and grind to get stronger to make the game easier. I like to roll-over my enemies.

It says: "The game, which has yet to be officially announced, is said to have been in development at Disney Infinity maker Avalanche Software since 2017."

Looking at the games they developed, eh:

List

I remember buying DBZ Sagas and it sucked.

Though the article says they have been developing the Harry Potter game since 2017 and if you look at the list their last new game released was in 2017.

Could that be because they have been dedicated to making the HP game?

Think I've already gotten my money's worth out of Everspace.

Haven't beaten it yet, but unlocked all the ships and have enough of a handle on combat where it's fun.

Really, all my deaths at this point come down to me just being impatient and running into mines, or crashing into an asteroid, or aggroing everyone on the map just to see what happens.

I think "Hardcore mode" is the definitive way to play, because all of the ships start out on even footing. No grinding for perks before your "real" run, like with normal mode. Every run IS your real run.

Ironically, easy mode may be harder then normal,, because reduced drop rates mean less fuel. Been in a position where I had to do two fuel deprived risky jumps in a row, because there just wasn't anything dropping.

That can definitely be done in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The 'idea' is to go in at mid-level for the challenge of it, but if you're a grinding guy, you'll get a lot out of it and be able to overlevel yourself to bulldozer capacity.

And as Eon says, it's incredibly detailed and fascinating a world. Slowly figuring it all out is a large part of why I love the game as much as I do.

Isn't there something about not overleveling for pvp purposes, because of how it pairs up people at certain levels?

Never played much Dark souls. I tried it once and I was getting killed easily, but I admit I was playing it drunk and was f*cking around.

Then before I could play it a 2nd time the PC I had f*cked up. I got a new one and never ended up installing it again.

It’s well worth the time invested in it.

D2 is lit right now.

Weird how they’re basically removing half the game.

How has no one mentioned blasphemy?!

This is the best metrovania game imo, so creepy and unsettling

Nice, I'll take a look.

Story is different.

Offensive as heck though. I'm kind of easy going about that stuff, but I dare anyone to try this with Islam or something where they fight back with more then angry words..

So Everspace. Hard to believe I've had this game for six days now. Doesn't feel like it.

Killed my first two corvettes today. Used my first access key, and deeply regret not holding onto it for something better. A million deaths later, the real game begins now.

Can we play together in co-op?
