People have a right to fly whatever flag they want or erect or live with whatever statues they want. People who live way out in San Francisco, California should have no say whatsoever about what kind of statues or flags people on the other side of the country are allowed to have/fly.
Frankly, it's none of their f***in' business. If most of the people in a community vote to have some statue or flag taken down in their community then I have no problem with that, unless of course it's on private property.
