I guess its reasonable for someone to get arrested on Thursday, where they would normally be arraigned on friday, to have to spend 3 extra days in a holding cell so a bunch of christians (whoops i mean citizens), can have a 3 day weekend for good friday (whoops i mean spring holiday).

Your car tags, which includes paying the taxes on them, are handled by businesses. Also, it doesn't matter if you buy into the secular fact of federal holidays. They are secular holidays. And, in fact, since at least the mid-to-late-2000s when I first started working for the federal government, you were not allowed to "religious-ize" Christmas in the work place especially in electronic communications. Because it's a secular holiday from the government's perspective, not a Christian one. More specifically, the separation of church and state case already went to the federal courts for the "legality" of Christmas Day being made a federal holiday. Richard Ganulin lost his court case:
