Well, someone brought up abortion. That's my cue to leave this conversation alone. Cuz I got a feeling it's about to turn into a religious debate. I'll just leave it with this:

Someone mentioned that we don't know what Robin Williams mental state was when he took his life. They're right. There's no way they can know that. But, if he was completely aware of his actions, or at least coherent enough to know that he was killing himself to avoid the inevitable decline, I view that as the opposite of strength. Of course, I'm pretty sure I'm the only Christian in this debate.

I’m not religious in any way nor would I go to that tactic for a discussion.

One can certainly have an opinion on suicide or abortion, but ultimately it’s the choice of the individual.

Robin didn’t want to become a drooling Alzheimer’s patient. It’s not just dementia; it’s physical agony from the brain degenerating and bodily functions, voluntary and involuntary, slowly ceasing. The man didn’t want to slowly die in pain. He spared himself. That’s not religious. That’s just practicality.

That's fine. I'm against suicide for religious reasons. But you can have your own moral stance without judging others.

Being diagnosed with Dementia isn't nice and as already explained there's no fighting it, you just degrade over time both mentally and physically. Then the responsibility of looking after you is left to your family. It's a harsh responsibility, emotionally and financially.

And unlike say Christopher Reeves or Muhammad Ali, there's no inspiring anybody as you decline.

So to each their own with how to deal with it. Of course there is the law to consider as well. If he's done it illegally (most likely, suicide is usually illegal) then that's a criminal offence. So there's that.
