Evangelicals were not politically mobilized?
The left could have probably avoided a lot of this, by not playing up the wedge issues themselves.
Gun control, for example. All they needed to do was make it clear they have no intentions of regulating guns into a de-facto ban, lay out a solid plan of what they DO want to accomplish, with solid details, and maybe engage in a conversation on whether existing laws already cover those concerns.
Same for white working class people. Yes, it isn't fair to blame immigrants or minorities for their problems. Yes, they still have very real problems, and privilege has nothing to do with it. Show they care about the white father with an ailing father and dwindling finances.
A lot of the base of the right probably want to hear someone tell them their issues are important too. Everyones is. They aren't really hearing that.
Of course, the right doesn't give a shit about the poor working class white guy either. That's part of the problem. No one cares, unless you're unfairly oppressedm. Life just sucking is not good enough.

I agree with a lot of what you say, the one thing that I disagree with is the framing that the left did that. It was the liberals and neo-liberals. The left has no power in the United States, it has been undermined and defeated by a cooperative effort of liberals and conservatives. If they did have some power it would be a much better country for most people, probably a bit worse for the very top though.
Who are the singing robots supposed to be? Pretty sure they're modeled after actual people, as is common with Warner Bros animation.

To be fair in that discussion, in the usa the neo liberals and liberals are the left. I realize that doesn't jibe with the EU side of things but this is Murika baby 😱

It doesn't matter. Remember just yesterday I pointed out the extreme left is more accepted than the extreme right and backed it up by pointing out they were allowed to take over a small chunk of a city, hand out guns, etc. for a month. This was just met with shrugs.
