Even a little belly is okay if he has some muscles. If you are too lean, you lose the fat padding in your face, and it makes you look older too. It is a weird contradiction, because I work to be really fit, but I am attracted to guys with dad bods.
I look younger when I'm very lean. It makes me look kind of like a kid.
But, yes, almost everyone looks older when they get really lean. Takes the "padding" as you said, out of the face.
A great example if Jeff Cavalier from "Athlean-X". He maintains around 7% year round. His face looks gaunt, 100% of the time.

Speaking of, the f**king gyms here closed again. I get it, but god damn you.
One of the stupidest ideas is closing gyms. That's the best place a person can be to keep from dying from COVID-19 since diabetes and obesity are among the very top issues when people get seriously ill or die from COVID-19.
And there's no reason at all gyms cannot keep surfaces clean and keep people socially distant. All the gyms I got to are doing a great job. They are definitely cleaner than the grocery stores.

I don't work out anymore for sex as I have a wife who still gives it up, but I'd be lying if I said vanity was not still a large factor, along with the physical and mental health aspect.I enjoy getting looks. It's 100% vain, but it is what it is.
