Piccolo wants to take down the status-quo and is only getting revenge against the World Police known as the Z-Fighters. He views the Z-fighters as fascists who only believe in a police state where the Z-Fighters are the police that must not be questioned.

Remember, King Piccolo was Piccolo's father and his father was killed by the Z-Fighter Policeman known as Son Goku. Goku, while not the de facto leader, is the symbolic leader the Z-Fighters.

Piccolo wasn't a whiny little b*tch tho falsely labeling people nazis.

And I have to admire the sheer derangement it takes to try to take a shot at republicans with "no good anime characters are republican".

I wonder if this anti-cop stuff should apply to super heroes. They are held largely unaccountable, should we see stories that reflect this more? They have done some like it in the past.

A lovely scene would be

Citizen: Spiderman, help me Venom is attacking

Spiderman: Hello good sir!

Citizen: He's peeling my skin off and eating it

Spiderman: Call a social worker *web slings away*

Come on Surt it’s just one weeb’s opinion, don’t get triggered now

I'd argue the person who feels the need to make a video about how no good anime characters are republican is the triggered one.

Not the person who points out how deranged one would be to do so.

But hey you do you.

YOURE the one who will be doing the you-doing!

Testing out some new clapbacks can I get an F in the chat?

It's comedy. Satire. It is intended to mock or poke fun. Don't get triggered over comedy, man. Fight for the free speech of others to make good and bad jokes. 🙂

Besides, there are plenty of possible 'Republican' (or just generally conservative / right-wing type) cool anime characters.

—Vegeta

—Great Teacher Onizuka

—Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill la Kill)

—Alexander Anderson (Hellsing)

—Koko Hekmatyar (Jormungand)

and... others.

Do any of you think we’ll ever see an Americanized adaptation of Akira?

I doubt it, not for a long time anyway, no studio would have the guts to get adequately crazy at the end imo (plus you'd need seriously advanced CGI). And after the poor returns of other Hollywood anime adaptations like Ghost in the Shell, studios are probably too wary to go for something as out-there as Akira.

It's a shame, I think it could be done well, but I don't have much faith in the western movie industry these days.

Would love that, live action would be brilliant surprised it hasn't happened.

Yes, for the life of me, I can't imagine why it hasn't been done yet. Very surprising, indeed.

Honestly though, if they did a western version and didn't get Cronenberg to direct, they'd be idiots.

Vegeta was a Saiyan Nationalist, likely a fascist as he was working for Space Hitler Freiza. Then he's radicalized by the Z-Fighters when he learns to actually like other people

As for Akira, we were close with Taika Waititi announced to be working on a flick. Although if they want to mix things up, they should do it as a series and do an adaptation of the entire manga. That way it's different enough from the movie.

Post-reform Vegeta still leans conservative, he's a classical liberal / right-leaning centrist imo

Ohhh yeah I did hear about that, come to think of it. Would defo work better as a series, I think, especially if it adapted the manga

Not sure how I feel about Waititi directing, I like him but it doesn't seem like his kind of tone. Akira is super bleak

One of the tattoos I want is the “Good for Health Bad for Education” tag. Some Akira representation would be solid.

Has anyone read Bartkira?

I haven't, but from a glimpse I think I need to

Actually, yes, that is a pretty good list. Especially the Hellsing character.

Alexander Anderson was my second favorite character from Hellsing. He was so ruthless and monstrous, yet wholly pious.
