The name originates from the French word for stern, la poupe, from Latin puppis. Thus the poop deck is technically a stern deck, which in sailing ships was usually elevated as the roof of the stern or "after" cabin, also known as the "poop cabin". On sailing ships, the helmsman would steer the craft from the quarterdeck, immediately in front of the poop deck. At the stern, the poop deck provides an elevated position ideal for observation.[2

Originally posted by Old Man Whirly!I think with the comics craze almost over (hopefully) TV needs to look back at its pulp roots which is frankly darker and cooler! I would love to Slan, or But without Horns turned into a decent TV show, even done with a period feel. Maybe, Perry Rhodan or the mixed men or mission to Mars... or even Anthony Rogers stories, he wasn't called Buck in the pulps. I just don't want the new thing going the other way and dabbling with Manga's... anything but that. Yes, I am talking to myself!
Foundation on TV. Dune in the Cinema, what else do we need? Lensman, Tedric, The Saga of Exiles?
Originally posted by Bashar TegExcelllent film, never read the book. I did read the Foundations series though because I am a geeky old ****.
cool! asimov's writing is way too dry for me, so i have to wait for the adaptations. speaking of, despite it's faults, i liked bicentennial man.

Jared Harris is playing the lead. I'll watch the first two just on that.

Didn't know Foundations had a TV series.
The lore is so dense you couldn't really scratch the surface in one or two seasons though. It would take Simpsons level syndication to really capture it.
But I'd love to see Mallow or Salvor Hardin's story.
