The media has often argued they are unbiased and non partisan. If true, where are the examples from CNN, The Washington Post, or Vox of support for Conservative politics, or open criticisms of left wing politics?
this is a question of relativity to some sense. I would argue that today, no media holds to the classic ideals to just cover the facts. The 5 Ws, (Who, What, When, Where, and Why). I would also add “HOW” to those 5 factors. That was the rule, at least on paper. The reality is that journalists have always “framed” a story to match their humanity because events do not happen in a vacuum. It happens in life with all its complexities. If you just stick to the 5 Ws, you can’t apply it to every event. Take a historical fact that everyone can agree on. The Titanic sank. You can answer 4 Ws but the “why” is complicated. There were many who contributed to this sinking and many weren’t even on the ship. This is where it gets subjective.Today, you only mention the “left leaning” news sources, but if you objectively analyze the media on the left and the right, there is one glaring fact that emerges. If you take away the facts that are undeniable where empitical evidence exists, then you end up with either opinions or in many cases unsubstantiated information and often lies. The left portrays itself as an objective source reporting factual information. To prove this, they have a process of having anywhere from 3 sources confirming a story to a much larger group confirming any given story. They will also report that the story hasn’t been independently varified if they lack more than 2 sources. Rarely do “left” media sources report a story without at least 2 unless they have a video they shot etc. Still, they get it wrong sometimes, and they retract those stories and often people get fired. That said, they still frame it from their bias. That is inevitable and even in the days of Edward R Murrow, bias existed. We’re all humans.
The “right” leaning media, Fox, Beitbart and the others I won’t mention, don’t even do the minimun to ensure accuracy in their coverage. They do this by having hosts present stories full of personal opinions as a news program, so that Tucker Carlson can report totally unproven or often outright lies and people believe it is a news report. It is not. It is like reading an opinion column. They are currently the worst violators of integrity rules of journalism.
What I said above is factual and can be proven over and over again. The problem isn’t a lack of objective reporting, it is the lack of effort on the right leaning media sources to try to report just facts. Some of the “reporting” that comes out of those sources should be retracted and the presenter fired, yet how many people have been fired for reporting lies? None, although Fox fired their news director for reporting facts and calling Georgia for Biden even though that was factually proven.
Now, if you feel that Georgia was stolen, they it doesn’t matter who reports what. You just don’t trust them and therefore nothing more to discuss. That said, the American people are guilty of gross ignorance that borders on unexusable and treasonous. We should read more and learn more because our lives literally depends on it.
If you don’t know how a messenger RNA vaccine works, you reall must read a little more. Even if you don’t believe it can work, you need to know the scientific basis for it. If you don’t know every article of the constitution (there are only 27 of them), then you really need to. . If you don’t know the Declaration of Independence. We live in a society where people are intellectually lazy. We are ignorant and for some reason we criticize and belittle those who study and devote their lives to knowledge.
Our media is quite indicative of our level of ignorance and our willingness to let others tell us what to think and believe.
I guess we deserve what we get…
