There's been a shift of Liberalism ever since the end of the cold war.
Pre World Wars, Communism was actually considered a legitimate form of government. It was being actively promoted here in the US, and also in the UK, France, many nations.
Of course, we had Roe vs Wade, which was very progressive.
We also had highly progressive "Republicans" like Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr on the Supreme Court bench. Someone like Rob will be fixated on his party affiliation, but the fact is he was entirely progressive in his policy.
For example, he stated the State should rightfully get people's assets when they die, and gave away all of his. He supported the banning of wheat on private property, using the Commerce Clause designed to regulate trade between states to argue individual growers will affect the prices of commerce on a national scale (Why this is an overreach is obvious, as it erodes the concept of private autonomy. Literally ANYTHING you do can affect markets, such as growing your own tomatoes or cactus for the aloe)
And most infamously he voted in Buck vs Bell that "feeble minded woman" who kept becoming pregnant (Later suspected she was raped by her state caretaker) should be chemically castrated so she can't have any more kids.
That was as far from conservatism as it gets. The state controlling you from cradle to grave is the very definition of anti-conservative values.
At least for the US, whatever we are today is definitely further to the Right then in past eras.
As for the rest of the world, maybe I should pay attention more then I do. But I do know the UK had Brexit, which suggests they aren't all THAT progressive.
Then again maybe the passing of Margaret Thatcher really would shift the balance that much more to the left, so idk. 😂

The UK also just had local elections in which the Conservative Party lost 485 council seats and now have less than half the number that the Labour Party do, lost the popular vote by 5%, dropped to the 3rd party in Scotland and had a 6% swing away from them. And that's against a Labour Party with a non entity, empty suit of a leader in Keir Starmer
On an unrelated note... lulz

He's not going to get this type of information/reality watching One America News, you know, the outlet that pushed the "plandemic" angle and claimed Donald Trump won the election a few hours into the first day of the election.
Originally posted by cdtmOkay, how can you equate Roe V Wade as a form of communism because they're both progressive? You've already gone into equating everything you disagree with as progressive (leftist).

LoL @ thinking party politics haven't changed at ll in almost 100 years. Blindling levels of ignorance, that.
Lol, dictating what women can and can't do with their own bodies isn't "progressive", it's Conservative. It's what Republicans are still trying to do to this very day. See: Leaked Supreme Court Draft

For once he's not wrong, though it took a Freudian slip.

Not quite. They've only ever been pro whichever big businesses lined their pockets. With is evident now with their hostility towards sucessful tech companies that don't fund them compared to traditional large corporations like mining, banking and fossil fuels.
