Trump was willing to halt criminal investigations as 'favor' to dictators, Bolton book says

Donald Trump was willing to halt criminal investigations to “give personal favors to dictators he liked”, according to a new book written by his former national security adviser John Bolton.

In his memoir, due to be published later this month, Bolton reports that Trump pleaded with China’s President Xi Jinping to help him get re-elected by buying more US agricultural products, according to accounts of his forthcoming memoir.

In his pursuit of a good personal relationship with Xi, Trump is described as brushing aside human rights issues, even providing encouragement to the communist leader to continue to build concentration camps for China’s Muslim Uighur population. -snip

And I'm glad you've acknowledged we need more proof than Bolton saying it happened.

He cucked for Xi Jinping and did not get anything in return.

Can we stop creating threads like these and put them into their master threads?

All racism threads into one thread.

All pro-anti Trump stuff in the Trump thread.

That is not really going to help nuanced discussion is it?

If Bolton can corroborate these claims then holy shit, Trump is probably done. Can't say I'd be surprised, but then again, Bolton is a complete nut.

Bolton said “we should have bombed Iran more for the drone.” That’s all you need to know on why he’s so Buttmad. And it proves Whirlys just sympathetic fool to believe him

Because of all the high-quality nuanced discussion taking place?

👆

Some of it would be impeachable offenses. The GOP should get behind impeaching Trump if some of the uglier things are true.

The Government are worried much of his corroboration uses classified documents and are trying to block release on these grounds Friday.

-Nuanced Discussion.

Then he should just release his book and then Bolton gets charged and executed for high-crimes.

Seems simple enough, right?

The stuff about the impeachment is most interesting, especially how Bolton rails against the Democrats for botching it. It would be incredibly embarrassing if it came out that there was all this legit stuff to impeach Trump over and the Dems went for something that was threadbare.

Idk, as I say, Bolton is a nut — but, to his credit, he's mostly an honest nut. A lot of warmongers hide behind spin, Bolton's always been pretty up-front about his desire for further war. Perhaps that gives his claims some credence.

I think the fact the US Government is going the official secrets way to stop it gives it credence.

It really doesn't though

Could end up being a bit of the Streisand effect? The more they try to hide it, the more it spreads?

The problem is Bolton is a disgruntled ex employee who clearly held out to make money. If he was truly the honest person he claims to be he'd be like "yeah, I sat on this info for financial reasons".

I suppose, but I don't think that necessarily indicates if he's being honest or not. The book's like 600-odd pages long — if it was a cash grab, it'd be 200-300 max.
