Oh I guarantee he'll be consistent. I'll see to it 🙂

The only way you could see to it, is by practicing what you preach. Are YouTube videos acceptable responses: Yes or No? If so, then watch the video and engage with the ideas presented. If not, never post another YouTube video again. Those are your choices.

Oh I have no problem with youtube videos, in case you didn't get it: i was mocking the way some of your pathetic little friends react to youtube videos and enjoying how I know they won't be consistent in their reactions to the video you posted.

Oh leftists...

While the author of that video is almost certainly a Marxist shitbag, his video is not without merit. Let us not pretend that a statue of a person striking a heroic pose in a public square, be that person a general or a statesman, who actively fought for the preservation of a system that actively supported and endorsed slavery on a mass scale is nothing more than mere history. If it was, these statues would be in museums.

Do you want to know what my country did with the statues of Marxist/Communist “heroes”? Tore them down and placed them in museums(with annotations and descriptions of who these people were and what they did) so that they can properly be a part of history.

Cool. Since you have no problem with YouTube videos, then watch the one I posted and engage with the ideas presented therein.

Yeah within the next 24 hours or so I indeed might give it a gander

tradition = conservatism

Super glad we got rid of the ol' Victorian tradition of the new mother-in-law visually ensuring the marriage consummation was completed.

I don't care about any statues on public property - let the locals vote it away if they don't want it. Private property is where they should go if the locals vote it out.

Local decision like this are tailor-made for democracy.

While I'll probably watch the video in the morning, for now I will speak a little on tradition. It can be good sometimes, other times it cannot. Sometimes "tradition" is just another word for "religion".

I also agree with that.

As long as you traditions don't include obvious evil stuff like murdering and raping my people (AKA: Manifest Destiny), I want you to keep and maintain your traditions.

@AG: Sorry, couldn't quote you.

The problem is that I disagree with the left that all of the people they claim were bad were actually totally bad. Like everyone else, they had their faults but they have also done good things.

Like the founding fathers, for example. The fact that they were slave owners doesn't negate that they were instrumental in creating our great country, our Republican form of government (Constitution article 4 section 4), and the Bill of Rights and the rest of the Constitution. As Americans, we owe so much to the great wisdom of our founding fathers. IMO, they're faults are far outweighed by the great things they did. They fully deserve their own statues and to be on Mount Rushmore.

In the end though, as dadudemon pointed out, the locals of a certain area should have the final say on whether or not certain statues should come down. Not communist thugs who think they have a right to dictate to other people what is acceptable and what isn't. If a community votes to keep a statue up that the commies don't like then the commies are free to move elsewhere. No one is stopping them.

Yes, vote it out, the mob rule and destruction is my only problem.

Put some in a museum tell the story good and bad.

Everyone is going to pick winners and losers and the current selection process makes it very difficult to hold any historic person to public display, unless it meets the standards of intersectionality🙂

The only thing I'd say about the museum idea is it would have to be private to work.

Everything else, A++.

Yup. That's what happened in Charlottesville. Damn statue arguments, city council votes, etc.

I accept the concessions 🙂

For all your talk about consistency, why has George Floyd been renamed to describe his actions and yet Washington remains George Washington and not Slave-Owning George Washington? Seems a bit disingenuous.

Slave-Owning-War-Hero Washington sounds more accurate.

Says photo of beaten woman is Aracely Henriquez, a pregnant woman who George Floyd assaulted during an armed robbery.

George Floyd was sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in an armed robbery in 2007.

The woman robbed, Aracely Henriquez, was injured by another man, and there’s no evidence she was pregnant at the time of the incident.

Despite captions stating otherwise, a photo going around social media of a woman with bruises on her face is not Henriquez. -snip

What's crazy, Floyd does have a criminal record, they could just attack that and what he actually did instead of making up and spreading lies about the man.

Yep, it is. But it is to be expected from those on the left to magnify the faults while downplaying or even outright ignoring the great accomplishments of true American heroes.

And, let's be real, as far as American heroes go, there are none greater than George friggin' Washington. He's right up there with Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin. Actually, greater than those two, imho, as great as they were. If not for GW, the USA probably wouldn't exist right now or even ever have existed.

George Washington was a true hero despite his faults. Floyd was a thug despite the fact that what happened to him was very wrong. Wrongly being killed by the police doesn't elevate one to hero or martyr status unless the person being killed was doing something heroic when it happened.
